Guest guest
Dan, Cholestyramine was the best for mycotoxins. Charcoal came in second, bentonite clay was third... My concern with taking charcoal tablets would be -- what else is it absorbing? Vitamins? Etc...whereas cholestyramine - you only have to worry about fats within a certain amount of time after taking it... Check out: http://www.personalconsult.com/articles/moldandbiotoxins/comparingmold toxinbinders.html > > I have a question, > > When someone overdoses on anything like Tylenol or many other toxic substances, in the hospital they pump the stomach full of a liquid filled with crushed charcoal because the charcoal attaches to the chemicals and carries them out of the body. Water filters us carbon or charcoal to remove all sorts of impurities. Air filtration devices use carbon or charcoal to remove odors caused by chemicals, smoke, mold odor, etc. Aquariums use it too. > > Does anyone know of or has it been tried taking charcoal tablets to detox? They are available over the counter, they are natural and natures way of ridding impurities, and I'm just wondering if it might not be as effective or more so than the pharmacopia conglomerates expensive alternative? > > Dan > Dan & Carmella Dunkin > >
Guest guest
I'm not sure that charcoal absorbs vitamins. I don't have time to do search now but it does not absorb minerals according to quick search I did a filter system had a separate cartridge to demineralize water separate from charcoal cartridge that it said was there to filter out gases and odors, see reference in link. You should be able to do search to determine if vitamins are effected, " charcoal + vitamins " , etc. CSM may be better for toxics but might as well not know for sure what the pitfalls and benefits of charcoal are for sure. <http://www.cynmar.com/productdetails/AFT70089.aspx> > > Dan, > Cholestyramine was the best for mycotoxins. Guest guest
Regarding charcoal binding to vitamins, etc, I found this. Not sure of the reliability of source but says to avoid taking dairy products with charcoal as dairy products tend to bind to charcoal (making it ineffective. I look for other sources of info also as I am interested in this topic too since right now I cannot get CSM powder. <http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/DVH/Uses/0,3915,7921% 7CActivated+Charcoal,00.html> > > I'm not sure that charcoal absorbs vitamins.
