Guest guest
I often hear people saying that I don't respect other ways when it comes to autism recovery. I do respect other ways that work. I don't respect a belief that only some can respond. I believe that if a human is not responding there is more work to be done. My belief is that the area of diet must be looked at as the major area to address. Often though this is a misunderstood area. Or it's not believed to be vital and so parents give up and give in to the modern pressures....a world where a pop tart is easier. I understand all of this and prior to my son dissappearing into autism I took him to Mcs. At the time I thought I was giving him the american dream. An American childhood filled with fun. When I researched to save my children, I found that for the body to heal whether cancer, or auto immune disease like autism, we have to understand nutrition. Almost 10 yrs from when I started my research I still see the same GFCF diet as the main treatment for autism. This won't be enough because we have to address the immune system. The diet must be at least 50% raw and living so that the body doesn't see the cooked and processed foods as toxic. When a person eats the typical american foods that are cooked and processed even when healthy or GFCF versions the white blood cell count will increase to deal with what the body sees as a toxic event. Something I taught my kids to do is to eat at least a cup of raw cultured probiotic rich organic vegetables at every single meal. Paired along side a raw, living, and packed with super foods like spirulina in green smoothies. Then a smaller portion of cooked protein or vegetable on the side in approximately 20-30% portions on the plate. The old way of cooking like my ancestors in Europe, as GAPS suggests....I paired GAPS with BED. We ate like this for many years. I used ABA to teach my kids to eat these raw living foods first before having say a turkey hot dog, or a bowl of mineral rich homemade chicken soup. This took a daily amt of constant work to prepare these foods, learn to prepare these foods and then sit with them to eat them. However I see parents running from therapy to therapy, and working tirelessly fighting the school systems. So much energy is spent on areas that won't directly improve the autism that affects our young developing children who can recover and improve. I am just a mom, and get no money from anyone. I share what I learned because my dreams came true. My children are well, talking, laughing, opinionated, playful, and progressing....autism now a thing of our past. I'm guessing that most will laugh at what I write. And spend their time and energy going to the " experts. " The same experts I wasted my time with. They know nothing and I wasted my time. I wasted precious time and resources driving around trying to find help....when so much can be done right now in our kitchens. A really easy starting point that will start to improve the nutritional status right away and is easy to take is to start your child on Juice Plus. Again I make no money to suggest this. I was against this supplement at first. But I've come to realize that it's a way, a starting point for families to turn their lifestyles around while they work to change the habits of their families. I'm in a hotel for months now as my husband and I relocate and we aren't on a strict routine as we used to be in my kitchen. I'm relying on Juice Plus to supplement my children until I can get back in my kitchen and prepare beautiful living foods for them again. I'm sharing all of this now because Christmas is coming. I remember the heart ache of having a disconnected child who only wanted his shapes. He'd gather his shapes alone and play with them in his own world. I was sick to my stomach, but continued on year after year with my work in my kitchen. Just wanting to share in the joy of Christmas with my son...I felt robbed. Today I have a son who dreams and talks about his future. He's light years away from those shapes. His interests expanding and changing very quickly...too quickly for Santa to keep up with. I hope to inspire as many moms as possible in my belief that diet truly is key in autism recovery. I found it to be a very powerful tool and largely misunderstood. The experts won't make any money selling diet and old fashioned work in our kitchens. If 10 other affected kids had been in my home, the truth is of course I don't know what would have happened. Maybe my son is just lucky. But I don't think so. GFCF options at Chikfila is the norm for kids with autism. So when folks say " diet didn't work " for their kid....I'm not sure they did what I did. My son said " when I grow up, I'm going to have a hotel where all the kids can come and be healthy if their moms don't have enough money or don't know what to do. " This is his own authentic idea and I did not directly encourage his statement, other than to model our lifestyle myself. He used to be non verbal and completely disconnected. http://www.gutandpsychologysyndrome.com/ http://bodyecology.com/articles/category/autism/ https://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/content/Welcome.soa
