What Life Holds - to

When you take on the guardianship of any child (adopted or genetic) there

are so many questions. What will life hold? Will he/she love, marry, go to

college, be a productive member of society? As with any child you don't

know - you try your best, you instill the values that you hope will carry

them through life, you teach them what you think is important but you have

no idea. I have two children who are as different as night and day - one

boy and one girl. My plans for them were to go to college, marry and

provide me with Grandchildren in my old age. They may (both of them).

is a whiz at math but struggles in language arts, (who has MDS)

struggles in math but loves the idea of books - we are working on her

reading, she is in first grade. would prefer to bounce a ball, while

likes to watch movies on TV. loves to build things and make

mosaic artwork - loves people and wants to be the center of

attention. has one or two good friends at school - is a

social butterfly and loved by most of her class - she just got a Christmas

present from Karlee (a book) and I have no idea who Karlee is. One of the

few things they fight over is whose turn it is on the computer as they both

want to play on that.

But my point is, you have hopes and dreams for your child and they might

take a little more work but with any luck things will work out (may take a

little more effort than planned ;-)

I am sure that Lee Harvey Oswald's or Theodore Kaczynski's parents never

planned them turning out that way - all you can do is instill your values in

your children, keep them safe and hope and pray that life works out for

them.
