Guest guest
thanks ann. my regulat doctor has not giving me any meds liek td it hat yet. all i have gotten is a cough med with codeine in it. and it is starting not to work as well, but my doctor wants me to still use it. i had a breathing treatment once and it helped me so much, so i think that is what i need. once again thanks for all the help. if u want to chat with me pm me at percioustiger, my name is AMANDA > > > Ok...I have to jump in here. The state of a persons throat can indeed be related to their asthma...everyone with asthma is so different that it is next to impossible to rule out anything. Nine times out of 10 one of the first symptoms I experience is that I get a sore throat and see an increase in congestion in conjunction with a drop in my peak flows. I was seen in pulmonology last week and he actually developed a plan of action that I am to follow immediately upon getting a sore throat. > > To the original poster..Im sorry, I forgot your name... > Has your doctor given you a rescue inhaler like the ones that Matt mentioned in his post (ventolin, pro-air, etc)? IF so, and you have cold induced asthma, you may want to ask your doctor about whether you should try using it before you expect to go outside, like someone with exercise induced asthma would do before participating in sports or physical activities. Also, you can try getting a scarf that is thick enough to keep the cold out and still let you breathe through it and wrap it around your face so it covers your mouth & nose. That may help warm the air you breathe before it hits your lungs..and it should help moisturize the air somewhat as it goes through the scarf. > > The other thing I would suggest is to keep a log of your symptoms. It can become a valuable tool for both you and your doctor to use in both determining a plan of action based on appearance of certain symptoms. Things you might want to include in any log you might keep, would include any symptoms, peak flow readings and any symptoms you might experience or triggers. > > Ann >
