Guest guest
Hi Evie, Welcome. I agree. For me the turnarounds are what is crucial. I also find it helpful to ask myself if I am absolutely certain something is true. Often things seem to be true, but that is because they fit into whatever story I am running at the moment. We become invested in our stories and make events fit them. But we can't really be 100% certain something is true. It is often amazing how many different ways a particular action can be viewed. Glad to have you among us. vivian Hi - new here Hi Name is Evie . A long time ago I did the basic steps of The Work. But after awhile things started looking a bit ethereal to me and I stopped doing it. It just got too airy fairy or something. The one thing that I did keep though was the turn around part. I found that instead of going through all the questions, all I had to do was to turn upsetting things around towards how I would either believe, see, do, have, etc. within my own world. Sometimes, I'd be in this rage and suddenly when I would turn it around the rage would just " stop " and be gone - just like that, within seconds. It happened that way for other things too. If I find that I'm limiting myself about something, I turn that around too. I tell myself to expand whatever it is. The turn around thing seems to work on dualities and polarities. Once you can get the hang of the balance act, it works pretty well and seems to be faster for me. Well, anyways, I thought I'd join the group and see what I could see . Guest guest
Dear Evie, whenever doing the work became too... ethereal, as you put it, I found comfort in listening to a recording or reading a work BK did. It's always pretty much down to earth the way she does it. I also found that it depends on what I investigate in the first place. The pettier I start, the less spiritual the inquiry process becomes. When I just judge and put down how the world should run, what people should do to make me happier, I get to go deep. Love, Am 19.03.2007 um 23:11 schrieb Evie : > Hi > > Name is Evie . Guest guest
Hi Vivian Thank you for the welcome!! I think asking questions " does " help to see " outside the box " (so to speak) and also view other possibilities. But many a time, its difficult for me to do that if I'm emotionally caught up in something. What the turn arounds do, is immediately allow me to take responsibility for my own actions or emotions and it calms me down considerably. Then I can look at some of the questions and see if there are maybe some different paths, alternatives, etc., for what I'm applying The Work to. Make any sense? Its kinda funny. I just no longer look to see if something is " true " like as if its a truth or fact. I look to see whether something can be flexible or changed and in what way. That way, I don't question something until I think everything is an illusion and oh what the heck. Instead, I can still play in the game of life but change it to fit what I want more and more. With " The Secret " movie and teachings of that nature, The Work goes right along with that because once you've removed a lot of the old considerations and emotional aspects, you're freer to create a new experience and attract what you want " naturally " . I learned while doing The Work, that really, I didn't " have " to do the steps in order all the time. It turned I could customize, just for me ) Evie --- Vivian Barning wrote: > Hi Evie, > > Welcome. Guest guest
Hi One of the things that I found the turnaround does is help me take myself out of " what others should do to make me happier " . Helps me be more responsible for myself, etc. But that doesn't mean that I don't seek people who agree with me. It makes my life easier. I mean why try to find people I have to effort at and persuade or sell my views to, ya know? I've already tried that . That's why I like groups like this .
