Guest guest
I received mine on Friday - so far so good. Caden seems to like it - it is only the starter video so Ella was bummed because she already knows how to read all the words. Caden did not watch the whole video last night - he told me to quiz him with the flash cards because he already knew all the words. Of course he didn't and when he realized that he asked that I turn it back on. So I did and he lasted about 5 more minutes. I did not push him so we will try again today. I am afraid the content may not hold his attention - at 3 if it doesn't have trucks, race cars or super heroes he generally does not have interest. Guest guest
HI Kristy and everyone! I just received the Every Baby can Read Video. We watched it for the first time yesterday. and Kirk both love it!!!! Of course the smarty pants already can read all the words on the video. He has been doing very well in Kindergarten with reading also. The video is very engaging and fun. They woke up this morning an asked to watch it first thing. also loves the cards provided with the video. He is a very visual learner so this technique really works for him. It is a little too FAST paced I think . If Dr. Titzer is trying to address kids with special needs....I think a slower rate may be more effective especially for a kid like ... With the APRAXIA and his disfluency he needs a little more time to answer and also to sing songs at a slightly slower rate. Actually this is probably better for all kids. Anyway, what is the next step? What kind of input, if any is he looking for. Thanks for participating in this Ross <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
I am so glad to hear the kids like it! Keep watching it as instructed and within a couple of weeks you will be getting an email concerning feedback. It is going to be interesting on how and Kirk both react and learn from it. I am glad that you included that you wish it was slower paced. That may be a very important point for them to know. We'll see what the other parents think. Thanks Kristy ps For anyone who wants to purchase the whole set of DVD's and flash cards, you can go to: http://www.ubah.com/ecommerce/main.asp?sid=V0259 & gid=10449190 & afid=AFF10442 Usborne Books at Home will give 10% of the sales to IMDSA! rnansoupy@... wrote: HI Kristy and everyone! Guest guest
Hi and welcome to our family! The " kit " is a project we are working on. Every Baby Can Read is a dvd/flashcard kit that is geared to children 0-5yr. I have been in touch with this company to see if they would market their product to children with special needs. I reviewed the dvd and flash cards and I can see a good potential in the program to not only teach children to read but also I think it may increase their vocabulary. (which is something a lot of us focus on) The company agreed that they would like to market their products to special needs children, and they offered a free starter kit to each age group so we can get feed back on how this program works for children with MDS. Everyone has just received their kit (or will this week) and so we are talking about how the children like the kit. You can look on their website and see actual video and testimony. http://www.infantlearning.com/ However, if you wish to purchase the kit we suggest that you go to: http://www.ubah.com/ecommerce/main.asp?sid=V0259 & gid=10449190 & afid=AFF10442 Usborne Books at Home will give IMDSA 10% of sales by purchasing items on their site. Guest guest
LOL! Kristy I didn't tell you that Karlee was really excited about helping Eli read. She kept saying come on Eli its easy as pie! LOL! Which she didn't even know that 3 years ago. It was a great feeling to hear her say that! :>) Every Baby Can Read > > > Hi Everyone > To those who have participated in the Every Baby Can Read program, > can you let us know if you have received your kit yet and if so, how > do you like it? > Kristy > >
Guest guest
That is cool ! When each of my children first learned to read---I cried! It is such an amazing thing when they finally get it! I taught all of my boys to read by the time they were 3 or 4 and I am glad to see this program that says children should be taught before age 5. We are having a similar program at our conference. This program is called Out of the Box reading. They have the same concept as Your Baby Can Read and I think everyone will enjoy the presentation on teaching your child to read. They have very positive testimony and one of the speakers has a daughter with Down syndrome. It will prove to be a very informative workshop! Kristy Mommy706@... wrote: LOL! Guest guest
Hi Kristy. We received it on Thursday and immediately read the paperwork and the intro DVD. I put in the Starter DVD during Mia's snack time and she was glued to it for probably 10-15 minutes. She is 13 months old!!!! The starter DVD comes with 5 flash cards (10 words with picture) and we have been doing a couple 2x a day since then (as well as trying to do the DVD 2x a day). She intently listens and looks as I point to the word and then show the picture. I have to say that so far it is great in that Mia is extremely interested in it as well as starting to participate with the video. I am really looking forward to the next 4 weeks to see if and when she recognizes the word without the picture. When I was teaching I always taught my lessons multi-sensory, so this is just great for me to do with her. I feel like I am back at work! Thanks, Kim Mommy to Mia 13 months old Every Baby Can Read Hi Everyone To those who have participated in the Every Baby Can Read program, can you let us know if you have received your kit yet and if so, how do you like it?
