Guest guest
Hello there, I am another new member who is interested in adopting the little boy that has been mentioned earlier who has MDS. The grandma is in the process of talking to the little boy's social worker about the families who are interested in him so I will know next week which family has been chosen. My husband and I are in our late 20's and have two five year olds (one adopted from Africa). Our biological son is being tested for likely Asperger's Syndrome (on the Autism spectrum, but different than Autism) but that is the most experience we have with special needs. I guess the main questions that weren't asked by the other potential family that I have are what are the best and worst case scenarios for life for an adult with MDS? Is it likely that they will be able to live on their own and have a job, or is that just a small number? We have been told that this little boy is extremely high functioning and does not " look " like a child with Down Syndrome. So, any words of wisdom or questions that we should ask the grandma would be greatly appreciated. She is in the process of being his full time foster parent and currently has only seen him for a few long weekends. Thank you! in Oregon
