Guest guest
> > according to the secret movie which can be viewed on line.. we do > create our future.. through thought. > And yet it doesnt always work out.. Probably because you have some deeply fixed belief that it won't work for you, or won't work at all. > > And i am confused because the self realization take on that is that > it is best to remain desireless. like a yogi.. That's another trap when you don't understand the meaning of being desireless. It's similar to the notion that you must reject all material things. Put things in perspective. It's the mental attachment to (a belief about) things, including emotions, that keep us earth bound. The Work is very effective in releasing those beliefs. You don't need the story about the belief - you just need to identify it. > I took the following notes from my last retreat with Self > REalization.... > BE aware of Desires and see how they keep you from unbroken peace. > If you get them then you have to worry about keeping them.. > Even the desire for respect, or understanding .etc. not just material > desires.. are included and should be given up .. You can't give up what you have a strong belief about. Release the belief first. The attachments will fall away of their own accord. If you find yourself resisting, work on the resistance. Allow yourself to resist. Feel the emotions associated with resisting. Note where in the body things happen as you resist. Get real with this process and begin to identify the beliefs associated with resistance. Then work on the beliefs. > The wise person is not effect of the ups and downs of the waves of > life but dive below to calm waters of bliss.. You can only do this if you are not resisting - meaning being attached to a belief to the contrary. > Surrendering desires leads to peace.. Rather, surrending your beliefs leads to peace. > say Lord, Thou doest anticipate > my every need.. I surrender.. And who is Lord? Does one look within or without? If we look without, you will never find the peace we long for. Seek you first the Kingdom of Heaven. This means to seek the Truth, and the Truth is veiled by your own belief systems to the contrary. When the veils are gone the Truth is self evident and peace is the result. > > Which i think would be closer to katies view.. of just loving what > is.. And loving what is is to behold the present without beliefs overriding what is. In that moment, you can't help but feel the love, and it is nothing like the feeling of being " in love " . > to get a future is hopeless. The future is assured in the present. To have a better future, have a better today. > Or tolle who says we only have the present. And here's where the mind with its beliefs turns things upside down. The mind insists that a future is real and possible because it has experienced a past, and the present was yesterday's future. The mind, then, is wrapped up in " time " . When " time " is " real " , the present is just an episode in time and no more " real " than the past or the future. That's what makes the it seem unlikely to the mind that a future can be created from the present. How can something unreal create something real? This kind of convoluted thinking is precisely what keeps us bound to earthly things. > > Having said that Im taking a class on the Secret movie.. Good start. Don't rule out Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as another tool in your arsenal. You'll find that EFT uses a lot of The Secret in its process. > and our > assignment was to list what we always wanted to have.. > what we dont want and what we do.. This is just another " mind mapping " technique - as old as the hills. Without removing some old beliefs about what works and what doesn't, you will most likely wind up with just another empty basket. > > And to notice the negativity around us.. radio tv, friends etc. Kind of hard to not notice. But to notice without an emotional attachment is the key. When you see a report of a rape, what are your thoughts and feelings about the rapist? About the victim? About rape in general? Once you can notice rape (or anything else) without emotion, you may then be able to see what your part in that act is and maybe know how to act (not react) appropriately - and also maybe be able to generate whatever appropriate emotion you need to carry your actions out. Notice I say " maybe " . There's more to " right action " than just seeing things as they are (i.e., loving what is). > > Humans like conflict and the drama .. We call it a human trait - but is of the mind, the ego. > i think.. makes life interesting.. For the ego that wants drama, and drama is one way to prove that life is worth living. Can you think of others ways to show that life is worth living? Are those other thoughts based on a belief? Think about this: all belief systems are destined to fail. When a belief system fails, it brings stress to the believer. So why not just dump them all now and not have to face the inevitable stress they bring? Can you live without a belief in something? Can't you just " know " ? Faith is not having to believe in what you don't know. Knowing preempts faith. Belief also preempts faith and also prevents knowing. You're on the right track if you question your faith, but don't cloud the issue with a belief. --
