Guest guest
I don't expect many to know that Hungarian Operetta. The only reason I know it so well, is that my family is Hungarian in origin. Both my parents came to Canada as refugees from the Revolution in 1956. It's a rather interesting and colorful story. My mom is currently writing a novel (in Hungarian as her English grammar isn't the best) and when she's finished, I'd like to translate it into English. When my mom graduated from high school, she took a job as a secretary for the Hungarian military (blueprints division). At that time, Hungary was freed from Nazi German occupation to be followed by Communist Russian occupation. She also was a part of the Freedom Fighters and used to type up anti-propaganda flyers and make copies of certain things to pass down to the underground. Needless to say she got caught and they gave her some leniency due to her age, but not much. She decided that night to escape Hungary with her best friend. Their journey took them on various trains, jumps off of moving trains, crawling through the mud laden minefields in the no-man's land between Hungary and Austria. Seeing a mother and infant accidentally trip a mine, coming face to face with an armed Russian soldier and spitting in his face, to give you a small picture of what my brave mother went through for freedom. Once in the Austrian refugee camp, she met my father that was a soldier in the Hungarian army and defected to Austria as he couldn't stomach what has happened to his country. They met, fell in love, got shipped out to England, married there, and ended up in Canada. Long story, but shortened for you all. Hmmm... how did I end up with this topic? Did I just fall back off the Fibro Fog wagon again? Sorry for such a stretch off topic... I think we were talking about Opera. Oh yeah... I remember.... I was trying to explain how come I know that Operetta so well... sheesh... I'm off and going again... hehehehehehe. hugs, Norah Norah I also love operetta. The Chocolate Soldier, The Red Mill.....old time ones like that. I love Aida and the Mozart operas, too. Don't know the Hungarian one. LOL I can't get through Wagner and knowing he was an anti-semite makes me angry....so I guess I will never like him. Saw Sam Ramey as Faust....wonderful. And love to see and hear Bryn Terfel (not sure I spelled that right). I love Fleming and saw her in concert a few years ago. Beautiful lady. She was also on Garrison Keillor's!!!! I like the modern shows....well, not exactly modern....South Pacific, Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Music Man....ones like that. Love, Cam. Oh my favorite operetta...how could I forget that one???? Song of Norway....all about the composer Edvard Grieg.....using his music. I saw it in 1947.....how's that for being old??????????? Lol, but I have never forgotten it. My father bought me the album and I know every word of every song. Also love to teach Grieg to my students. Love, Cam

Guest guest
The banana has potassium and that will make you young, slim , beautiful and irresistible to old crochety men. LOL 2 things if I can remember them One I know is about the restless leg things. Eat Bananas. Eat a banana every day at least, two if you can work them in for the first week then one for the second week, see if it could be a potassium problem. Sometimes that is what is causing it. Okay know there is something else, but for the life of me, Oh I know what it is Joan if you popped something you could have popped that kneecap out of place since you can not bear weight on it. You should call your doctor immediately. You can be doing great harm to your leg there girl. Got it am proud of myself. Lynette is patting self on back. LOL Love to All Lynette 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
He's ok now. We had him buried on the property and they put flowers out on his grave. We have another dog and that helped him with it a lot. I also told him that Sebastian was now Jesus' main dog and he's running through the fields and doesn't have to worry about fleas or ticks. Our pets are amazing aren't they? They bring us so much joy and comfort and they love unconditionally. Tina Earley babydoll0719@... Re: New member...MAGARET How sad about the Binx getting killed in front of the boys. Were they really traumatized by it? I know my son was last year when our great dane was hit and killed. He was hysterically crying.
