Guest guest
thanx, at least now i know why i have to run to the bathroom all the time. i haven't had too much constipation (except maybe when i get a good bout of gas) or vomiting. but, i do have trouble swallowing. have had it since the mid 80's when i first started having asthma symptoms. one time in the mid 90's i actually got a piece of meat stuck in my throat just below the opening of the airway to my lungs, but above my stomach. a gay coworker at my job had made a wonderful beef stew (he was a caterer at his other job and could cook too damn good) and i was so in a hurry to eat it, i didn't chew good enough. so it got stuck down my throat and nothing would go past. not even saliva. i was at work so i had to call my then bf to come take me to the local ER. there they numbed my throat, put a probe down connected to a tv monitor and let me see what it looked like. my esophagus is really scarred (i also have acid reflux from time to time). the meat had gotten caught on some scar tissue. they just poked it w/the probe and it went down into my stomach. i told my gay friend that that was the only time his " meat " would ever gag a woman. lol! (he loved that). i used to tell him i would marry him just for convenience. he could have all the guys he wanted and i would just have him cook for me. haha! i have just learned to really chew my food up good. thanx again, nancy > Tip of the Day for June 28, 2004 > > Digestive disturbances, abdominal pain, and bloating are quite common with FM > as are constipation and/or diarrhea. Guest guest
thats all very interesting. Im sure I have ibs now, but one of my first symptoms before any of the rest was swallowing for a few years. I even seen a specialist he couldnt find anything wrong. I still wont eat cheesecake for fear of choking on it, and I hate to swallow pills. It doesnt bother me so much anymore. Now its more the ibs I suffer with. I never ever thought that swallowing problem was related, wow! -- poetrybycarmen@... wrote: --------------------------------- Tip of the Day for June 28, 2004 Digestive disturbances, abdominal pain, and bloating are quite common with FM as are constipation and/or diarrhea. Together these symptoms are usually known as irritable bowel syndrome or IBS. FM patients may also have difficulty swallowing food. Researchers think this may be a result of abnormalities in smooth muscle functioning of the esophagus. ( (((hugs)))) carmen
