Guest guest
I got a referral for a patient who has had pre-eclampsia but just had the baby. The baby's weight is OK. Is there really anything I would need to do? Doesn't the pre-eclampsia go away following the delivery?? Guest guest
Speaking from personal experience, it took my BP almost 3 weeks to return to normal so the " 48 hours " you often hear is not always the case! My BP was affected mainly by " over-doing it " in terms of work/erands vs. diet, although I did avoid sodium just to be on the safe side. SO a healthy diet, and lots of rest and frequent BP checks should do it. By the way, my Doc told me that if I were to have another baby my chances of having it again were about 25-30% so I decided not to take that chance since I have two healthy kids. I was an atypical patient in that I am not overweight and do not smoke, etc, but did have my second child at age 35. So if your client wants to have another baby and is overweight or other risk factors she should strongly consider making health improvements before getting pregnant again. J.
