Guest guest
DEFEAT THE GIANT What’s your giant? What’s that one thing you think you can’t ever overcome in your diabetes management plan? Is it your weight? How you eat your meals? Your lack of motivation to exercise? One thing about the giants in our lives is that they may not be a " giant " as we think they are. What’s a big problem/failure/obstacle to you may just be something you PERCEIVE to be a giant. For example, weight loss is often looked at as something that’s so hard to do, and yes it does take a lot of diligence and self-discipline to lose weight. Just like it takes diligence and self discipline to do many diabetes management tasks (taking injections, oral medications, eating at the same time each day, etc…), but it is something that CAN be done. You may not be having success now, but success may be only a stone’s throw away. Remember and giant he defeated with a slingshot and a smooth stone? Well, that giant was huge compared to , but a little stone made him fall. By the same token small stones can help you. What are those stones? Those stones may be knowledge, time, motivation, determination, a good attitude, etc… And you have to face your giants head on. So if there’s something you need to face in your diabetes management plan, try to face it, even if you have to chip away at it with many little " stones Belver Ladson dfanish@... Guest guest
This reminds me of a phrase I read long ago in one of Schuller's early books. He was talking about doing college term papers. His professor in whatever class it was said to them at the beginning of the semester -- " And remember, class: 'STARTED is HALF DONE!'
