Guest guest
I am 59, also retethered. Recently new symptoms have developed with no apparent reason. Bladder pain, headaches and vertigo. I don't have a neuro anymore so my GP keeps on eye on me. Nothing else is showing up so I am attributing to TC. I have retethered ...... at least my NS thinks so. However he has recommended to hold off on surgery because my symptoms are fairly tolerable. I have been de-tethered twice and the last one was NOT easy. I want to hold off for as long as I can.My question is .... has anyone had vertigo that seems to correlate with TSC? Leading up to my last detethering I had 3 episodes of vertigo...... lasting up to five days non-stop. I have been having similar vertigo like symptoms along with severe hot flashes. I am 34 so I don't think I am going through " the change " (menopause) yet. The only other thing that might be the cause is that I recently started taking 15 mg of MS contin for pain control. I had been resisting that for over 2 years but my pain management doctor felt it was to my benefit. He is right. I had been using Norco for severe neuropathy and back pain. I know that it isn't wise to ust too much Norco because of the acetaminophen in it. Lyrica caused too much weight gain. So I switched back to neurontin. It works but not as well as the Lyrica . I don't think the vertigo has anything to do with the meds. I have been on these new meds for over two weeks and the vertigo just recently started. Has anyone had similar issues? Guest guest
I have had chronic headaches and episodes of vertigo for the past 7 years, but have no idea if connected to tc as I have just had tc release two weeks ago -- no dizziness but bad headaches all week, but this could be attributed to a spinal leak as my neuro believes I have one as I have an area of swelling at the top part of my incision. So sorry, too early to tell if head symptoms can be caused by tc. Have you had an MRI of your brain to rule out chiari malformation. This should be done if you have tc. Also, have you ruled out inner ear problems? Guest guest
Hi Dee, Thanks for the response ... sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My vertigo subsided after a few days. I have had an MRI in the past .... and no chiari. I have also seen a ENT and had episodes of this in the past. He said at the time that it was " Benign Vertigo " ... I think if I remember right. Her had me do this rolling method to help put back the crystals back in my inner ear that had been off. I ham better now. Thanks for your concern. I hope you are doing better as well! Guest guest
I have been wondering if what I have experienced on a few occasions is Vertigo. Not sure if Tethered Cord itself could cause it or not. But I do have another condition that could, and along with Tethered Cord, I am sure there is more of a possibility it could cause it. What are your Symptoms of Vertigo? Brande mymocha@... > > Has anyone had episodes of vertigo with tethered cord? I have retethered > ..... at least my NS thinks so. Guest guest
I do have additional bouts of vertigo but I never thought to correlate it with TC. Hmmm, don't know. > > I have been wondering if what I have experienced on a few occasions is > Vertigo. > > Not sure if Tethered Cord itself could cause it or not. > > But I do have another condition that could, and along with Tethered Cord, I > am > sure there is more of a possibility it could cause it. > > What are your Symptoms of Vertigo? > > Brande > mymocha@... > > > > > Has anyone had episodes of vertigo with tethered cord? Guest guest
This may not be related to what you are talking about but I thought I'd give you my 2 cents anyway. ) My mother-in-law and my mom have both had recurrent episodes of 'vertigo' and it was found to be this ear equilibrium problem (I apologize I don't remember the name for it). Anyway, something about calcium deposits or crystals or something dislodging and coming loose in your ear and getting stuck in your equilibrium system in your ear. I'm sorry for this very non-medical description! Apparently it is fairly common and can be corrected by a PT trained in these particular type of vestibular exercises. I think sometimes antibiotics or a type of medicine is given. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case this is what you are experiencing and it isn't related to your other issues. Can happen to all ages. I didn't read the other posts, so maybe this has already been mentioned. I'm sure your general physician would know the name of it. Good luck! Guest guest
I don't know if I have it, nor do I know if it is connected to Tethered Cord. I am still trying to figure out what exactly Vertigo is, feels like......etc. Brande mymocha@... >I do have additional bouts of vertigo but I never thought to > correlate it with TC.
