EHR federal money- best use- anyone qualify?

We've just starting looking at how we might qualify for the federal money as we have EHR. There is a local group in Seattle that was awarded a grant to help practices less than 10 providers understand how to qualify. So we jumped through hoops, filled out aplications and had our first free consultation.Now that's another whole story. But one point was made clear- your money is either based on percent Medicare ( of which we have about 1% ) or you have to have 30% or more Medicaid per year of encounters. We have about 37% with no insurance or Medicaid but only 26% looking at just Medicaid visits.So seems we won't qualify for any money! Must say I'm amazed. And curious if anyone on this list either sees enough Medicare to make the money worth all the work to get it or qualifies based on Medicaid numbers. Weakland On Dec 7,

I have been in a solo practice for 5 years now and the practice has been growing. I have had 5 women fly in to see me from Alaska as well as 9 women driving from Seattle (6 hours one way) , Idaho and northern California as well as the whole state of Oregon. There are only 2 fast cameras in the Oregon. Most of us are at medicl schools or in research facilities. My colleague in Portland does sports medicine and he travels with the Olympic team. I also have Non Profit status and I have several clinical studies in process.

My Proactive Breast Wellness Program has been reversing inflammatory changes in the breast in 6-12 months as noted by our cutting edge infrared camera as well as alterations in their saliva and serum hormone levels.

I can also put you in touch with some folks if you wish to have a camera in your office also. It has a 97% sensitivity and can pick up issues in the breast 3-8 years prior to mammograms. I have presented 4 times now to the breast cancer tumor board rounds for women who had negative mammograms and ultrasounds but I picked them up with IR and got them in for MRI and surgical biopsy which was positive. Using my infrared camera I was able to stop the herbicide roadside spraying in Lane County Oregon by presenting a power point presentation to the county commissioners and the health department. The camera can detect toxic exposure by Xenoestrogens and its effects on breast tissue.. Oregon has the second highest breast cancer rate per capita in the nation. We do a lot of clear cutting and have large tracts of agriculture that are sprayed heavily like grass seed growers or mint production.

The camera is also fabulous for melanoma detection as well as visualizing sub clinical hypothyroidism and thyroid nodules. The Proactive Program is a 5 CD set with 3 1/2 hours of narrative and a provider's professional module CD with the handouts to give to your nurse to provide a billable visit to your office as well as to sell the CD sets at retail to make some money for your office. There is also a free data disc with articles and information to go with the 9 chapters. There is also a CD or DVD that I created entitled "Waves of Serenity". It helps to reduce anxiety, pre and post operative pain, stress and insomnia. I created the set while I was training at the Mind Body Medical Institute under Herbert Benson, MD. I know you have a busy practice and do not have the time to spend 3 1/2 hours with each woman to assist her with her breast health. My program can assist you and empower your women.

The first version will be down loadable hopefully in the next 3-4 months nationally. I am currently creating a customized nutritional supplement line to go with the Proactive Breast Program to be able to decrease the number of supplements needed and increase compliance. I also wanted to introduce you to a breast cancer tumor marker test that is newly available called the BT Test. It is a biomarker test that looks at 5 tumor markers. It has a 97% sensitivity in women under the age of 50 and 86% over the age of 50. It is a "yes/no" test with the negative range of 1-59. Above 60 is considered positive. They have been identifying women 2-3 years prior to mammogram detection. My Infrared camera will identify a problem 3-8 years prior to mammogram, when I then hope to be able to reverse the inflammation with the Proactive Program. The interesting part is that the women that have had abnormal thermograms so far have in 100% of the time have ALL had elevated tumor markers ! I am using this test as a tie breaker. If the woman has a negative mammo and ultrasound but she has an abnormal hyper-thermic scan and I think she needs an MRI or a surgical excision, if I then get a positive tumor marker, the

AIMES MD has been OKing the MRI even with previous negative structural studies. Or if the marker is elevated the woman is more likely to agree to a surgical procedure that I think she needs.
