Guest guest
Telephone consulatation is actually very common in the Atlanta area. I have stopped all telephone consultations. I sent you an email. call me lets get together and exchange ideas To: Sent: Sun, December 5, 2010 4:42:07 PMSubject: Giving medical advice on phone without compensation Does anyone have any ideas for getting compensation for telephone advice? I would love to add telephone visits/consults to my practice as some patient complain that they cannot always make their clinic visits for fear of job retaliation. They call in to try to get me to prescribe antibiotics for "sinus infections" which I refuse to do. Any thoughts? While on the one hand I don't really feel I can afford staff right now I also don't feel I can take on more patients without hiring staff. Guest guest
We added phone visits but won’t do them unless we (or the patient) is out of town if Steve would otherwise see them in the office (for sinusitis, etc). We have it in the “non-covered services” part of our financial policy so that when the insurance company doesn’t pay for it, we can directly bill the patient. You might consider hours outside of “normal” office hours to accommodate working patients 1-2 days per week.
