Guest guest Posted November 10, 1999 Report Share Posted November 10, 1999 About six months ago I wrote the US Postmaster suggesting a diabetes stamp with f added price to go to diabetes research (like breast cancer awareness stamp)...finally got a form letter response from them that was both good and bad. The good... " You will be pleased to learn that the nomination of Diabetes Awareness is before the Citizen's Stamp Advisory Committee and remains under serious consideration. " ....and the bad... " Unfortunately, we cannot honor your request to issue a stamp with added value. " And a whole long paragraph explaining why. Oh, well. Vicki A. It would be a great way to bring public attention to bear on the issue of diabetes. Certainly many diabetics would load up on them. Diabetes affects perhaps 10 percent of the population, and it is growing at an alarming rate, and impacting people at an earlier age all the time.
