Hello guys,

I'm very happy that such a group for helping HCV patients exist. I wish every

one of you a perfect health and a complete

recovery from this annoying disease.

I need your help guys. My fiancee was diagnosed with HCV almost 4 months ago.

She got tested and they found that

the viral load in her body is 73000 (which is a low rate, as far as I know).

Next she performed another test

last October 2009. (something called SGPT and SGOT) and the results were:

SGPT: 100

SGOT: 72

Her doctor prescribed two types of medications at this point (Viracure, and

another drug that I don't know of).

She kept on taking her medications for two months (Dec, 15th 2009) and then she

performed that SGOT/SGPT test again, and Thank God,

she found the ratios quite normal

SGPT: 37

SGOT: 22

She kept on the medications (but she messed a little with her diet) for another

two months (Feb, 7th, 2010), and when she performed

the SGOT/SGPT tests again, the ratios were higher this time:

SGPT: 52

SGOT: 36

How bad do you guys think her disease is?

Some doctor suggested that she take an Interferon shots course for a year, but

her doctor told her not to. He claimed

that this Interferon has tons of side effects that in some cases can be more

severe than the disease itself.

I did some research on the internet, however, and found out that most of the

articles I read state that the only

treatment for HCV is Interferon and Ribavirine.

I'm not sure what we should do? Should we go on with the interferon course or

not? She is 25 years old. I love her

more than anything else. I really need to know if she should take this

Interferon or not, and if not, why?

Thanks in advance guys, and God bless you all.
