Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been following this list for some time and occasionally post over at the adrenals list. My daughter has some seious hormonal imbalances and I really need some help. She is mercury toxic and has been chelating a long time. It has helped, a great deal, but there are some issues we can't resolve. She was recently diagnosed with precocious puberty. Her blood levels of testosterone and estrogen are very elevated, and she has behavioral as well as physical signs. The treatment for this is often Lupron. For many reasons, I really would like to avoid using this drug, but I also know that time is of the essence. Her doctor originally tried 5 mg. of hydrocortisone, approaching this from the adrenal angle. She responded poorly to this. Her sleep worsened (which was likely a thyroid dump),but her immune system also took a dive . She was sick for weeks with one thing after another. She has not been like this since infancy, and it stopped as soon as the HC was stopped. Her testosterone and estrogen also shot up even higher, and I really don't understand why this happened. I recently had a Canary Club test done for her. Her adrenal results are as follows: 7:00-8:00AM 20 Normal (ref 13-24nM) 11:00-noon 8 Normal (ref 5-10nM) 4:00-5:00 17 Elevated (ref 3-8nM) 11:00-Midnight 10 Elevated (ref 1-4nM) Cortisol Burden: 55 (ref 23-42) DHEA 1 Depressed ( This is reportedly NORMAL in someone under 14, and DHEA augmentation Is not applicable.) This places her in stage 3-Maladapted Phase 1 Suggestions were for phosphorylated Serine to optimize HPA responsiveness. I have started her on both Serriphos and Holy Basil which also is reported to lower cortisol. Question- Are there any other suggestions for this issue? I do give vitamin C (4xper day and sea salt). Her Thyroid results are as follows: TSH 57 Normal ( ref-26-85 nlU/ml T4 0.25 Normal ( ref. 0.17- 0.42ng/dl) T3 0.30 Normal (ref. 0.28-1.10pg/ml) TPO Negative Normal From reading here, Her thyroid levels appear too low. She showed many signs of hypothyroidism earlies in her life (ie. sparse hair, dry skin and cold extremities) These things have resolved, but there are quite a number of remaining issues that I thing may be related (ie. persistent yeast infections, hyperactivity etc.) Does my interpretation of he number appear correct? As I said earlier, both her testosterone and estrogen levels were very elevated in blood. This happened in 2 seperate tests. Her saliva tests were as Follows: Estradiol: 9 (follicular 5-13pg/ml) (Luteal 7-20 pg/ml) Progesterone >1000 (follicular:20-100) (Luteal:65-500) Her blood progesterone was 0.4 ng/ml (Follicular 0.2-1.4) (Luteal 3.3-25.6 (Mid Luteal 4.4-28.0) I have NO idea how to interpret this progesterone result. Free Testosterone: 6 Borderline Low (Normal 8-20 pg/ml). Her blood level on this was 17 the first time. The reference upper limit was 10. I don't have this test with me and cannot recall exactly the low end of the range, but believe it is 0. Getting her testosterone (and her estrogen ) level down is my main concern right now. I was hoping that by supporting the adrenal and thyroid glands appropriately, that her other hormones might come into line. Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Kathy T.
