Guest guest
Permission to Repost: Dear Group: I need some guidance. There have been a few meetings to put together a research proposal under the established Comabating Autism Act as a guided means of providing funding for research into autism, and all kinds of areas concerning services, insurance, causes, and treatments. This meeting was open for the public to call in and listen to live, which I did. I have not been able to sleep since the last meeting on Janurary 14, 2009. First of all, the prior meeting got pretty heated when the idea of vaccine research came up. This meeting consists of about 10 or 12 people representing governmental agencies like the CDC, and about 6 members representing the public and private organizations. The public and private got out-voted consistently due to inherantly there being more members that represent governmental agencies who also have ties to vaccines. As a matter of fact, the meeting went quite smoothly, unless public opinions were discussed or vaccines were discussed. Of the 3 meetings I listened to, about 50% of the time was spent on the topic of " let's not include vaccine research " , mostly by officials representing the CDC. What bothers me is the great lengths that were put into trying to avoid vaccine research. If one has nothing to hide, then what would you care if vaccine research were included amongst the many other areas of research, after all it was mentioned that 900 million dollars were to be awarded. Surely, one could fit vaccines in there somewhere. But to go to such an extent to avoid it, makes me feel very uneasy. What should we do? I think we need to get our Congress to listen to the tapes of the meeting. They will see the obvious bias and denial of public input and tremendous amount of effort and deceit used to get vaccine research out of the proposal. I say deciet because they said they did not have time to look at any more public input ideas to finish the proposal. But then they went back and spent a considerable amount of time re-writing the proposal to eliminate vaccines. Thus, it was clear that they only had time to do what they wanted, get the vaccine research out of the proposal, as if it was their only goal. I feel so uncomfortable about listening to all this take place. Do you think we can get our Congress members to listen to the January 14th IACC meeting tapes? Any ideas on what to do?
