Hi Jim T!Great you have a good Thanksgiving dinner, me too! But my headache had me down for most of the day, nothing helps... Opiates help, but only at higher dosing, which I don't want to do..

Those of us with Lyme really need special diets, which you seem to understand well... But sometimes others don't... But for their own health, they too should try to eliminate as much processed as possible, eventually getting down to zero!  MSG is something I haven't touched in years,

and I don't miss it.. I read somewhere food processors add it to food as it makes you want to eat more!! Sounds like something they would do.. I think once allopathic fails, we start to really look at natural alternatives... Heck, the name says it all... I TiVo " This Old House " every Saturday, this week it was replaced with a PBS Special, 3 Steps to Incredible Health by Fuhmman, MD... I haven't watched the whole episode yet, but listened as he spoke about the importance of GOMBS!  He says these are the only foods necessary to get to good health and stay there!!

Have you eaten any GOMBS lately?   :-)G = GreensO = OnionsM = MushroomsB = Beans/BerriesS = SeedsAccording to Dr. Fuhrman, those are the ingredients for good health and longevity!  He said making a soup on the weekend with GOMB and having it for lunch throughout the week was an excellent idea... Then using B/berries and S/seeds in a dessert daily or just to munch on...  This is the link to getting his info that is in books and DVDs by making a donation to PBS... This may be of interest to your wife!!

http://www.drfuhrman.com/pbsUh, well I told my wife about the soup, she whipped up a cabbage and beef soup with onions, mushrooms and beans for dinner last night, boy was it delicious!!  Not a drop of processed there!!  She also made it nice and spicey too! Leftovers tonight, I can't wait!  She is mostly allopathic too, but she is slowly being converted... :-)

And I have posted here seveal times before, a good brain healthy food is eating " blueberries (fresh or frozen) 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup of walnuts after every meal!!  This both detoxes and feeds the brain and it is the B in the good doc's diet plan.. The first week of July every year I load up on blueberries, the only time of the year they are on sale, put them in a double freezer bag and into one of my freezers.. They easily will last a full year!

Antioxidants are always good to take in high doses, how about Vitamin C or Astaxathin... Also NAC as I have mentioned to you before... Magnesium citrate, take 1 tsp per hour with 8 oz of liquid and it will clean you out.. Is CALM all mag citrate? You don't want any calcium as it will bind you..

Absolutely Essiac tea, it is probably the best detoxer on the planet!! BUT since you are bothered by what you ate, I would take a double dose (2 oz) tea concentrate (cold), 4 oz of hot water twice daily for 2 - 3 days, then go back to a single dose, once daily.. AND, about 1 hour after drinking the Essiac tea, take a toxin binder to bind any toxins out of the body... Oh, always drink plenty of filtered or distilled water an hour later and the rest of the day after sipping Essiac.. Water is the best way to rid toxins from the body, but you have to drink a lot..  We Lymies should try to drink 1/2 our body weight in ounces (or more) of filtered or distilled water daily. This actually applies to any non-caffeine liquid..

Hang in there, this will pass, literally.. :-)Jim

OT: MSG for thanksgiving

Hi all, Just had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner - well, it tasted great.   Unfortunately my sister who insisted on fixing the thanksgiving dinner and has not quite caught on about how bad some of the processed food is, used campbell's cream of mushroom for a green-bean casserole (that one I KNEW was bad, so I didn't even try it, even as much as I LOVED that casseraole).  But, when I asked about the stuffing & rice, she said, no, it " shouldn't " have msg in it, so I consumed two rather small servings (just to be safe), compared to what I'd do if I had fixed it with 'regular' stuffing.  Just two tablespoons.  I really didn't want to be rude an say, " can I see the packages " ?  My wife and sister both already put me down greatly (to the point of anger) because of how conscious I've become about what we eat.

Later that evening, my wife told me that my sister had used Stove Top stuffing and Uncle Bens converted rice.   I looked up on the internet, and found - oops!, thank you Kraft for putting MSG into the stuffing, and I could not find anything on the rice (which makes me suspicious).   So, I immediately took lots of magnesium (CALM), Vitamin C, D, & E.  That seemed to slow things down a bit as I didn't really start getting the msg headache until Saturday, whereas normally i would've gotten it within 24 hours (whould've been Friday).   And it is 'less than unbearable', but still very nasty - something I'd rather just not have.

Now, I'm more angry at myself for eating it than I am my sister.  I tend to forgive people for their 'ignorance' where health issues are concerned as i was there not too long ago myself.  My wife is still one such person, who is learning, but still buys off into the allopathic world and doesn't believe that processed food is really bad for us.

Anyway, my issue is of course, by day two, severe headache/pressure, chest/heart ache, severe muscle/body fatigue/aches, irritability, air hunger & general malaise, severe brain fog, rash (flaking skin), etc.

I used to take 4 advil, 2-3 times a day for the aches/pains, but that does a number on my stomach and really only took the 'edge'  off (20% reduction in symptoms) anyway.  Plus, after taking that for months, was diagnosed with leaky gut & advised to stay off of most NSAIDS.

My question is, is there something natural I can do to help speed up getting this out of my body and addressing some of the symptoms until it IS out of my body?

Would the essiac tea help? Any comments/suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

  Thanks, JimT

Well I have the same problem with msg, even the natural msg in foods like parmesan and mushrooms. Funny I found that Advil is a receptor site blocker and it works great for me, but then I've been on a gluten free diet for years and my leaky gut has healed (knock wood).

I also read that Lithium (Orotate is easiest to find, don't get aspartate) is a receptor site blocker and I'm switching to that ASAP. You might look into that as a natural way to deal with msg.I'm so sorry that your family gives you a hard time about what you eat! My husband is understanding but gets tired of it at times. He is an omnivore, and nothing much bothers him.

Hope you feel better soon. I swear, I tried EVERYTHING and Advil is the ONLY thing that helped me with MSG headache. " The weather is here, wish you were lovely. Love, Sandy "
