Guest guest
I am cross-posting to several groups that I'm a member of to ask you: What are your favorite sports nutrition resources, websites, etc. I am so anemic (sorry for the pun!) when it comes to sports nutrition and am trying to learn more about it. I have attended a couple of conferences by which were very helpful. I've read her books. But, I want even more resources. I am starting to see members of my local YMCA and am concerned about the range of questions that will be asked of me. Also, a friend is an assistant coach of a college basketball team and he has questions (the head coach is recommending the players drink whole milk after practices). So, where can I start on the road to be a better sports dietitian? Most likely I will join the DPG this year. But, initially, what can I do? What are reputable resources for me to read up on this subject? I usually give patients a list of websites, books, magazines and other resources to look things up after our appointments, too. So, do any of you have any resources that are written at the patient/client level? I appreciate any help you can give me on this topic! What a great field we are in that we can pick new directions in our careers at any given moment...... Karin E. Hosenfeld Registered, Licensed Dietitian Plano, Texas Karin@... Guest guest
Gatorade Sports Science Institute site is good. Google it. I read some research recently that showed that chocolate milk after and endurance workout (1½ hours or more) was better at replenishing glycogen than one of the expensive sports drink marketed for that purpose. I have used iced skim milk after a long run for years. W.
