Guest guest
I use the patient portal that comes with my internet fax service, UpDox. It also interfaces with Amazing Charts, allowing me to sign off, categorize, and file documents. However, you can use the email portal separately from these other functions if you want to, and none of my patients have objected to signing on with a password. It has several levels of service, dependent on how many faxes per month you need. My fee is a total of $35/month. Deanna, FNP Aurora, CO Hi All, I started an IMP in late Sept. I'm curious as to how many are using a patient portal with secure email messaging and whether that has been helpful in improving efficiency. A well designed patient portal seems to be a differentiating feature of some of the lower end EHRs, ie cost as well. Also, those of you using Office Ally...do you use their billing service, if so, what is the percentage they charge? I'm curious b/c I have been doing my own billing and with 15 pts, the OA rep wasn't sure how much they would charge. Thanks all. Guest guest
I would advise you to do your billing yourself..I took over my billing in April and the stuff I discovered/ learntBasically, we pay the billers to fix our mistakes, they never tell us what we did wrong, so we never learn, If however you do the billing, sure you will make mistakes( very distressing initially), but you will learn from it and it wont happen again. Guest guest
I'm using Updox for a portal as well, primarily because it is cheap and includes by faxing. Seems to work ok and my few patients who are using it seem to like it. No structured e-visits with that. If you use the Office Ally " Practice Mate " PM module, which is free, I think you can submit charges through their clearing house for free, unless you have a large percentage of Medicare patients... they then charge you a monthly fee, but I think it is only $15. Anyone else using Office Ally to submit claims? Dr. Chu? Jack > > Hi All, > I started an IMP in late Sept. Guest guest
Hi Madhavi- I use E-MD’s and their portal. When it works—it’s great. Certainly a time saver for provider and patient alike. When it is non-operational or incompletely operational it is a major hassle. I plan to continue with it, but I am leaning on E-MD’s to keep it working properly. -Chris From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of madhavi Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2010 1:21 PM To: Subject: patient portal Hi All, I started an IMP in late Sept. Guest guest
We also use EMD's. We have not started the portal as yet. At the user meeting, one of the IT guys told me that if you put patients email addresses in the confidential email slot in the register, you could actually use simple email. It is virtually the same as the portal, and free. ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of madhavi [reddypatt@...] Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2010 12:20 PM To: Subject: patient portal Hi All, I started an IMP in late Sept. Guest guest
Have you tried this Jim? If so, how does one " send a secure email " from within the system? How does it work? Guest guest
I am not sure there is a medicare fee w OA. I do my own billing, after a while it gets easier. I did take a billing course, it was about 4 weekends or so. OA does offer a billing service but not sure of the fee. My pts sign a consent about non secure email. OA does offer secure email but only 1 pt using it so far. I use myfax.com faxing and so far so good, $10 per month So far I have know everything about my billing and the worse ins for denials is Blue Cross. I don't take United I'm using Updox for a portal as well, primarily because it is cheap and includes by faxing. Seems to work ok and my few patients who are using it seem to like it.
