Guest guest
Bill Eastman asks: << Is a fifth edition coming out? I have seen the fourth edition at Bookstop. >> The Fourth Edition is the new one. Here is a blurb from a web page: Authors Biermann and Toohey strike again. This prolific diabetes duo has updated their supremely popular book, The Diabetic's Book: All Your Questions Answered. Praise for previous editions says that it is a down-to-earth, practical and upbeat guide anyone can understand. June Biermannn has had diabetes for 31 years. She and her partner, Barbara Toohey, have cowritten nine other diabetes books and publish the newsletter, The Diabetic Reader. This fourth edition still has all the necessary basics for type 1s and type 2s, but has expanded its coverage to include the latest clues to a cure, new products, including new oral medications for type 2, HMOs and the ADA's new diet recommendations. In this edition, Biermann and Toohey, for the first time, touch the hot topic of the low-carbohydrate diet, because, as Toohey says, this diet " definitely seems to be a trend. " The Diabetic's Book gives a fair assessment of the pros and cons, then invites people with diabetes to read other sources to make up their own minds. " People are getting excited about the low-carbohydrate diet, " says Toohey. " Some people are mad because, they think, 'Why didn't someone tell me about this diet before?' After years of being accused of cheating on the traditional diets, they now realize the problem was with the diets, not with them. " This latest edition costs $13.95 plus a $4.25 shipping charge. It can be ordered from Biermann and Toohey's company, Prana Publications, at (800) 735-7726.
Guest guest
Go to http://www.Lsoft.com click on CataList ... click on Search ... type in LC-DIABETES ... send and email to the mail robot, typing SUBSCRIBE, followed by your real name, in the body ... the mail 'bot will write back .... reply to that confirmation letter, and you will receive a Welcome letter, giving you a list of commands to help you talk to the mail 'bots. You can then go back to the commands you received and change your email over to DIGEST so that all the posts will arrive in 1-2 bundles a day and not clog up your mailbox. See you there!
