Mr. McCabe, Mr. Dees,

I absolutely agree with both of you! I LOVE

WHAT I DO! The back of the ambulance that

I climb into says Emergency Medical Services!

Service! What a neat word! I don't care if the

patient is old or young, clean or dirty, perfumed

or smelly. I am here to serve them!

Several people responded to my posting by

replying the server and some private. Please

don't misinterpret my intentions. Yes, I would

love to see licensure in Texas but I think it

will be like anything else in life that is new!

It will take time to work out the problems and

get adjusted as to how it will really effect the

service we provide. I personally think it will

produce nothing but good things for this

service 20 years down the road and that

is what I want for my friends, family, and

customers!

" To provide the highest level of service

to the citizens we protect " , that is part

of a statement that hangs over the door of

the fire station that I call my second home.

I don't care if the men and women I work

with are licensed, certified, or tattoed

across the forehead. I just want to know

that they are providing good service.

As for the politics involved in this, we

all have the responsibility for being the

advocate of the patients that we come

into contact with. I just hope things go

smoothly today. Implement the best

suggestions for Licensure, let us give it

a try, and get back to the patient care

that is the real point of what we do.

To everyone reading this, keep your chin up.

My short experience in EMS has shown me

that these things can actually resolve themselves

sometimes. If you see me at Conference, say

Hi and I'll help you find a cup of coffee.

Service with a Smile,

Gates
