Guest guest
Dave I have had a very difficult time this past year because of my disappointments with people that I thought I knew!! Even my husband took a huge chunk out of me beginning the night before my last treatment shot for the HepC. He now knows that he still has a lot of work before I'll feel like I can trust him again. In the past couple of weeks, I've had to do a lot of soul searching and coming back to rely on my best friend - my Higher Power. Yesterday, my specialist phoned me from Vancouver to let me know that indeed, I do have Liver Cancer. Even though I've known since last Oct that there was a high probability, it was still hard to absorb the news. You know, it seems that the average friend would be around very much, if a person had cancer. But, with Hep C - it's kinda like - don't bug me (you don't look sick). Therefore, those that I had to cut out of my life in 2009 are simply not welcome back in now either. I've gone through way to much crap with my liver in this last 8 years, to put up with self-centered people anymore. It's been a hard lesson on my people pleasing defect and one that I'm trying very hard to learn from. Gloria ________________________________ I think that is very wise, Roni..thing is I thought they were close friends..how is it the saying goes.. " a true friend is one that walks in when everyone else walks out " . When I was helping take care of my life long best friend with cancer, and our ordeal would really start getting to me, I had that wrote down and on my desk, where I would see it many times a day. It helped me so much. That is one big why his death effected me so much. Because he was my true friend, also. I have one more like that, ouside of some of my family. He is a long way off, but he is a true friend,..I feel fortunate to have had two in my life! That's awful. I'm sure alot of my so called friends would do the same. I just tell my closest friends who support me 100%.
