Guest guest
How do you tell the difference between the flu and a colongitis attack? My colitis has just started back but about a year ago when I was jaundised, I hurt all over like the flu, had a fever of 103, and itched something terrible. I thought this was from the liver disease itself and not the colitis. How are we supposed to tell one from the other? I've never had a fever that high since. I went to the hospital that night and the ER doctor was very upset with my doctors for sending me home after having to ERCPs back to back. The ER doctor said there was a very high chance of infection when you have two done so close together and that is what was causing my fever. I was already taking Cipro but it just wasn't helping. I was sent back to Chapel Hill where it took them a week to get my fever under control again. Why won't some doctors let you have something for pain during those attacks? The Cipro doesn't work on the pain quick enough. The ER doctor gave me a low dose of demerol before the transport to Chapel Hill. That helped more than anything. I guess some doctors don't like to see their patients suffer if they can help it. I really dread when the time comes to be in the hospital there because they do not believe in pain killers at all. Wouldn't even let me have anything for my migraine when I was there. So I though up for 2 days. Sorry I got long winded.
