Guest guest
try talking with him about it, but he doesn't want to talk about it or explain it. All he says is he's afraid to leave, he can't leave...he's afraid of loosing control while he's gone. I still have this problem and it's 7 years later. And contrary to what the damn doctors will tell you this is NOT agoraphobia. It's about having such a super sensitive nervous system that everything overwhelms me, and I'm afraid of the unexpected. Therefore, I have my little routine. I do my errands in a predictable fashion, but I never stray too far from home, and if I could manage my life without leaving the house, that is what I would do. I understand exactly how he feels. And it's awful. Blind Reason a novel of espionage and pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, I have problems in this area. I walk my dog in the morning about 400 yards up the road and back and that's about as far as i can get.I do go to the store on the odd occasion with my husband and make him miserable because i have trouble dealing with it.I rush him about as fast as possible so i can get back home. Some times he just goes by himself so he can look around without me pestering him to hurry. When i have to go out by myself i get so worked up i can't get out the house or if i manage it i have to keep telling myself i am going to be ok.I never had this problem before paxil or during only when i started coming off the stuff and it never left me I feel safest in the house. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, This was a big part of the withdrawal process for me. I spent the better part of one year holed up in the house. Hated going out, even to family functions. Gradually I felt better about leaving the house and built it up to being able to go back to work. I now enjoy going out (I'm 3.5 years post drugs) and never believed I would reach this point at the time. Guest guest
Thanks for the input... will be happy to hear that you did recover from this " fear " ..sure hope it doesn't last that long for him. He has gone out a couple of times with his brother, but never stays long. He actually left this afternoon for a short while. I was glad for him..he was able to help a friend fix a problem with her car. He seemed to feel good when he came back..that was so nice to see! Again..thanks for the feedback! Blessings.. Guest guest
All he says is he's afraid to leave, he can't leave...he's afraid of loosing control while he's gone. Have any of you experienced this? Is it something that will pass eventually? Cheryl, In the beginning of my withdrawal, I started out by forcing myself to go to the end of the driveway to get the mail. Now I am able to go shopping, etc. I don't think that I am ready to try any big trips (out-of-town) yet, but I can go just about anywhere else. I never had that problem before, so I'm sure it was w/d related & will pass. Kendee
