It's like " hey, look at me.........see what I can do " . It's a joy to finally see her able to go where she wants (which is not always where we want her to go). Good luck! The " walker " that we preferred for was a Little Tikes shopping cart and costs about $25 American. It is sturdy, not tippy, and does not roll backward over him. It also functions as a toy for carting things around. This is far more inexpensive than anything " medical " and the options that we were shown were NOT as safe. We have since learned that other safer options exist, but the shopping carts (one at home, one at school, and one at daycare) worked GREAT! I know lots of people who have had great success with it. But, needed the support of a walker " behind " him so he ended up with a rear walker. For those of you who may not have seen them, the look like a walker reversed. The handles to hold onto are still on the side, but the remainder of the walker wrapped around behind him. He would actually lean back on it as he was learning when it had brakes on the back. Later we took the brakes off when he was more stable. He just took off! He just took off! > Aha! hated the support in the back and it was not safe with the brakes removed so that he could have the support in the front because it was unsteady and rolled over him. We've got several walking toys but if they don't work for one reason or another (tippy, too fast, etc) I may have to look into the shopping cart. It worked wonders (and so did she) and it has continued to be a favorite toy even after all these years. That poor basket has weathered 3 moves, 3 years outside in the elements and 2 busy kids w/o showing any age! I draw the line when the kids try to climb in, but I know they do when I'm not looking! They even tip it sideways and sit on the sides, base and wheels. This has been one of the best things we ever bought Destiny! Now it is inside in our large playroom. Destiny uses it everyday to carry her tube feeding and asthma supplies to where she wants to be fed each morning. At one time or another, all of her toys have taken at least one " ride " courtesy of that basket.
