Wow... all these families here in LA county all of the sudden! My son

was born in Redondo Beach...but we moved up to Lancaster about 9 years

ago.

You're email doesn't sound like rant at all to me... just sounds like a dad

coming to terms with all the craziness that's been going on around him!!

Look forward to getting to know you all better....

Hi

Thank you so much for sharing your family pictures with us! Logan is such a

beautiful baby boy! I have to say that I also enjoyed looking at your vacation

photos. We went to the Grand Canyon last year and we didn't capture the beauty

the way that you did in these pictures.

I can only imagine how difficult it was to get the diagnosis and n's

pregnancy news on the same day. It is hard to get the diagnosis at first, and

then to get the news of a new baby...I am sure you and n had so many mixed

emotions you didn't know where to turn!

From hearing your words here and seeing your family pictures I have to say

that you are an awesome dad! Logan is so lucky to have you and n as

parents! I know that he (and the new baby) will become wonderful people because

of the way they will be raised by you and n!

Remember that it is ok to ask questions along the road of Logan's life. You

may wonder if something he is doing is " typical " or you may just have one of

those days where you really wish he didn't have MDS. And, that is ok! That is

why we have this family here! Because I think we have all felt that way at one

time or another. I know I have.

Please keep us updated and let us know when the new baby comes! When is he/she

due??

Hi all,

It's been about a couple of weeks or so since we joined this group. I've been

lurking around for that time being, trying to gather information and to make

sense of everything that's been happening to us the past few weeks (we found out

about Logan's MDS, and n's pregnancy the same day).

After going through a rainbow of emotions, we've decided that we have all the

answers we need, which is NONE. The same as any other couple would have about

their babies, MDS or no MDS.

Obviously we're still getting lab results for the usual tests performed for

children with MDS, and I've settled with just knowing those answers. Everything

else I will leave it to Logan to decide.

As you can tell for what I've written so far, I've already made peace with

myself. Since it seems that Logan wasn't the one with a problem, but me. He's an

unusually happy baby and I won't take that away from him just to satisfy my

paternal selfishness.

I do forsee some challenges that other parents won't go through, so I see that

we can get that lacking support from this group

I feel like this posting feels more like a rant than anything else, but I needed

to let it our of my chest.

I'd also like to share our family pictures (mostly Logan's):

Good morning, I was wondering how I can share photos on the list too? Do I add

them to my emails or to the website?

Thanks a bunch

, i think I can speak for my husband (who reads our posts but

doesn't chat) that it is harder for dads in a way. Moms just pick up

the pieces and forge ahead full steam and as women, we're so good at

building relationships and seeking help. But it's harder for dads,

especially dads of sons. So I'll tell you what I tell my hubby: just

breathe. one day at a time. Play with your son, get involved, meet

other dads, meet kids with MDS that are older and have " worked out the

bugs " Take time to be angry and grieve, support your wife, focus on

your family's immediate needs, even if that means sacrificing a few

other things for the here and now with the promise to yourself that

you'll get back to it later. Cherish the special, small moments and

precious little things. Give yourself room to be imperfect.

I wish you the best as you embark on both an exciting (the pregnancy)

and challenging (the MDS diagnosis) time in your family's life.

Hi! Welcome to the group. I have a 4 year old daughter with MDS.

I have to say that your little boy Logan is SOOO cute! Adorable.

Logan is a great name! Congrats on the new baby on the way, hope

you get your girl! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

You did not rant. It is many emotions you go thru.... sometimes all

in one day. (smile) I am thankful for this group. It helps to know

that everyone here can understand. My daughter has a speech delay

which we have been working on pretty much all along. She has always

been ahead physically. (We believe she was a stunt woman in another

life!) Nothing she says is taken for granted and we enjoy her

successes with such joy with her. We are better parents and people

because she came into our lives. I feel she has already taught me

more than I have taught her. Your son is very blessed to have a

Daddy that is reaching out. You and your wife will be so enriched

by him and your new baby too, whether it's a girl:) or a boy:).
