Guest guest
This is just like they do in Singapore. I took a trip over there in 1997 and visited their Fire Dept. ( They are a part of the Civil Defense). The medics rode motorcycles and got through the traffic in no time. Treatment was started and the ambulance would get there later. Sounds like a great plan. Guest guest
Also in use in the New England States, they got theirs from Harley son, leased them for only $2000.00 per year under a special program. Tried to get my boss to go for it, but, alas, he fell for everything but the beard and leather jacket..........maybe next time. Seriously though, they are extremely useful in maneuvering through heavy traffic and winding roads, excellent first responder vehicles. Not entirely out of the question here in Texas. Guest guest
I would tend to agree with the idea, having tried to drive through New Jersey traffic, but I wonder what size bikes they are and if the $16,000 is rigged out. I kinda doubt it unless the defibrillator is an AED. ______________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
They did that in Scotland for a few months, it was an experiment. They call themselves Paramedics, but I would not let a UK or ish Paramedic work on a dead dog. Example my wife was bleeding vaginal when she was 8-1/2 months, I was working as a diver/Paramedic at the North Sea Oil Rigs at the time, she called the so called " British Paramedics " they walked her down THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS!!!!!!! needless to say the placenta cut lose and she bleed out and we lost our twin boys due to those idiots who today are still allowed to call there self paramedics and work the street, I guess over there in Britain and in Scotland if you cannot become a toilet cleaner you join the so called paramedics. Oh buy the way it is a self taught course over there you read the book and there is no field eval time by a preceptor. So I hope you did not get the Idea from over there Take Care F. Guest guest
While your comments sadden me upon learning the loss of your children, I assure you that I have personally inspected the ambulances, dispatch/call center, and the equipment of paramedics and met several of the paramedics of the Royal Ambulance Service of the UK. In London they are called the LAS (London Ambulance Service). Elsewhere in the UK, though they may look similar in uniform and equipment, they all have the same training-- I do not know where you arrived at the conclusion that they are all self trained. That simply is false. I met a very nice paramedic, Dave , while I was in Manchester, England. Dave and I communicate with one another through the mail and I always see him whenever I am in London. He is a very knowledgeable and well trained paramedic. Though they may refer to their drugs differently than we do (LIDOCAINE, for example is referred to as LIGNOCAINE), I found that the medicine they practice is comparable and on par with what we do here. To say the least, I was impressed. On another note: Dave is a motorcycle paramedic in the town of Derbyshire. I have seen the bikes that they use over there. They are really nice. They carry everything except a stretcher. They are fast. They are well equipped and expertly maintained. I am trying to get Dave to write an article about the motorcycle program for JEMS magazine so that I can forward it on to A.J. Heightman for publication. I have several 8x10 glossies that Dave has sent me if anyone is interested. I could send them to your private Email address. Guest guest
Also call the royal infirmary in Glasgow and ask them there ACLS procedures you will be shocked here another blunder for you I delivered my 2nd son my self in my home over there after I had tied off the cord and the placenta had been delivered they the " paramedics " arrived you know what they asked my late wife would you like a cup of tea. I thought what the F--- are you guy don't you think you should look at the blood loose and take a BP and start an IV line and maybe a little o2 and how about an APGAR score they did nothing except stand there with there thumbs up there ASS and then they were not allowed to transport until the midwifes came hours latter maybe you visit the place from time to time but I lived there for 10 years and I think I can comment more on it, no offense meaning to you but I have been a paramedic for 25years and I think I can comment, now and then having to raise an autistic son and another boy on my own and them asking why mommy died and you know I flat tell them it was the Brits so called Paramedics who would not make a pimple on my rear end Fred ______________________________________________________________________
