Guest guest
Mr , Just because some people that you have taken offense to may or may not use a certian proceedure (i.e. Motorcycle mounted Paramedics) doesn't mean that the idea is invalid. What happended half the world away in an only vaguely related related situation bears little on what and how motorcycle paramedics could possiblely be used in Texas. A tragic and unforgivable loss occured. However useing this forum as a soap box for hatered is not likely to bring you much sympathy... My 2 cents on that now back to the subject... I have also heard of using small cars as " Fast " units... a single Paramedic with minimal gear but compleat ACLS functionality. Thereby spreading Paramedic resources instead of concentrating them (as is the current trend (I think)). My understanding of the concept is that by running in a BLS enviroment the ALS " Fast " units can add ability to any scene without tying up a second ambulance. Traditionally in a tiered system if a BLS unit made the inital contact to an ALS call then a second unit had to also respond to that call. I'm just thinking things out loud here and really have no experince in this type of response (i.e. using a solo paramedic unit to add to a BLS unit). :-{)> Jt emt-p Austin ______________________________________________________________________

Guest guest
If memory serves me, Hurst came out with a " chase car " back in the early 70's to be used as a first responder vehicle. It was, of all things, a Gremlin, painted screaming yellow with black bar-type striping. It carried a Jaws of Life, various extrication equipment, and a first aid kit. Never actually saw one in person (in Vehicle?) but the concept was and still is a valid one. On the subject of motorcycles used as first responder vehicles. Currently we have integrated them, as well as hovercraft, bicycles, modified jet skis, and sand buggies as first responder and patient transport (hovercraft and sand buggies) vehicles in a country-wide EMS System proposal for a Middle-Eastern country. With all the new technology available, it makes sense to utilize their advantages to the fullest.
