Guest guest
I've pondered the following; let's say a car runs over my foot, breaking it- so of course I'm in excrutiating pain, and can focus on nothing else. but in the next moment, i hear/feel a boom, and see off in the distance a huge mushroom cloud filling the sky, and know an atomic bomb just went off and i'm about to be blown away I imagine all thoughts of my foot pain would cease. Where did they go? I think I can only hold onto one thought at a time. Just one. It's like a stage, and there can only be one performing act at a time. If you hit one of my hands with a hammer, and chop my foot off with an ax at the same time, where would I 'feel' the pain at? But then if you've watched WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW? movie, that says nothing ever touches anything else. Isn't this conversation kinda boring? Why aren't we playing Pictionary? Post only Pictionary postings, or I'll hit ya on the noggin with a hammer, or ax. Guest guest
Do you want someone to help you with this experiment? ;-) If you hit one of my hands with a hammer, and chop my foot off with an ax at the same time, where would I 'feel' the pain at? Guest guest
Yeah! Thanks Karin, Do you think you'll be able to hold still while I swing, or should I bring clamps, shackles, duct tape and such? Swinging > > If you hit one of my hands with a hammer, and chop my foot off with > an ax at the same time, where would I 'feel' the pain at? >

Guest guest
I think it´s interesting! I remember when I had an earinfection and toothache on the same side at the same time. My right face half was just like one aching mass. And so I went to the dentist and they found two big holes that needed to be drilled, all the way down to the rooths. They asked me if I wanted anesthisia, but I said no thanks. I rather take a little pain instead of the needle and beeing numb for the rest of the day. And they wondered if I was sure, because this would be rather painful. " Yes, just get going " . And I felt that they were doing things in my mouth, but I didn´t feel a thing. All I could think about was this excruciating pain from my ear. Afterwards the dentist and her nurse was so impressed by me! So I just guess that one pain can take over another, both when it comes to physical pain and mental pain.
