Guest guest
All, I do have one question (below), otherwise, just wanted to report to the group. I've downloaded & read the book on the C/Salt protocol - but naturally I wonder, if this works so well, why isn't it more out in the 'mainstream'? So, could it be a hoax? Other issues? Please forgive me if this email isn't 'well organized'. I was diagnosed w/Lyme through a WesternBlot (single band positive) a couple of months ago. There's a whole host of history here that I will not go through right now, but it is typical of a lot of us on this group, years of problems, misdiagnosis's, no answers, and just slowly getting worse and worse with severe brain fog, severe fatigue, joint aches, severe memory recall issues, etc. So, I asked my MD to test me for Lyme, as one of my diagnosis's was MS. But after years of taking healing supps (neigh to the pharmas!), I was not getting better, and while I slowed the progression, I could feel I was still going downhill - albeit slowly. Then, I started seeing a LOT of posts on these groups that they are fighting Lyme, and how the symptoms can closely mimic MS (amongst others). My MD agreed to test me, and did a microcurrent treatment for Lyme before the test results came back. She told me if I herxed, that would be a good sign that I had Lyme - which I did, though a mild herx. Well, test results came back about a week later, so she put me on Tindamax (tinidazole) for abx, one week on, one week off, possibility of going down to 3 days on 1 week off if herxing too strong. With several refills. And, she also gave me cholestyramine powder to help with removal of the toxins. The first week I had a severe herx beginning on days 3 & 4. Taking the cholestyramine did help with the herxing, knocking it down to about 60% of what it was just hours before, but not eliminating it. So, I found this does work, however! I do not like the side-effects of both of these, especially the Tindamax. I have had yeast starting to overtake me in many ways I've NEVER had happen before, even though I've doubled up on my pro-biotics. Naturally I am looking at alternatives, but my MD is pretty much sold on this even though she is an alternative 'wellness' doc. Also, seems like on the 'off' week, I get mild symptoms almost identical to the herxing + some extras, like feeling Oxygen starved, even more fatigued, major joint aches, especially on the wrists & ankles. So, I asked her about the C/Salt protocol, and she said go ahead but to continue on the abx simultaneously. The only question I really have on that - is it safe to take them together? Both the C/Salt & abx? After 3 rounds of abx and becoming ever more concerned about the side-effects, I decided to go the C/Salt protocol this week after I've been off the abx for a week, and skip the abx this week. On the first day, I did as recommended, 1gr of salt, 1 gr of C at 10am. Nothing, did the same at 2pm. Still nothing, did the same at 6pm, again, nothing. The next morning however, I did my 10am dose, and by 12 noon, I was going through a herx as strong as I ever got from the abx. Also, not fond of the cholestyramine as it has it's list of side-effects, so I tried a cap of activated charcoal. Within about 1 hour, my herxing was knocked down to about 20% (or even less) of what it was when I took it - which I thought was exceptional. But, I did find about 3 hours later, even though I still didn't do another C/Salt dose, the herxing was back about 90% of what it was earlier through the day - getting ready to take another charcoal about 2 hours after dinner. I'm just another person that has had the C/Salt protocol provoke a major herx, indicating to me that it is probably working. I'm glad there is a 'natural' alternative to all the crappy abx. Not sure if I want to go back to abx at all! Here's another vote for the C/Salt protocol. Best wishes to all, Jim T
