Guest guest
Is anyone taking either of these for anxiety? I've been unsure of which of these is better to take, how much of it, and when to take it. Thanks, Elyse
Guest guest
I used 5-HTP for my anxiety.. and I found it worked wonders for me... I started taking 50mg WITH FOOD - made me sick otherwise. Then as I got use to it, I increased my dose as needed. I think the most I ever took was 200mg - once I had learned how to use it and my body adjusted to it... In desperation, without any guidance, I downed 300mg at once.. when I first got it. I hope to never be that sick again... I remember reading - afterwards- that your body needs to get used to it. I will always have a bottle in my home. I take it when I feel the anxiety start... I don't 'need' it as much anymore, but I'll have it around. What I really like about it, is I find I can take it when I need it.. When my anxiety was really bad, I took it more regularly - everyday.. I can't remember how many doses I took everyday. There are a few books bout 5-HTP. And I would guess there is more information available on the internet now than there was 6 yrs ago. Read what you can and make sure it is right for you... As in all situations.. we are different and jsut becasue something works for me doesn't mean it will do the same for all. ALSO, this was before 'diagnosis' of thyroid stuff... Have you had your hormones tested? Lots of things will mess with anxiety. Estrogen will create anxiety. Although the 5-HTP did help, the anxiety stayed with me until my monthlies stopped suddenly in Oct (undertreated on Syn...) and the anxiety stopped suddenly with it... Since I started Armour, things have been returning..and the anxiety is starting to rear it's head - ever so slightly- again... but nothing like before... I hope some of this helps.. Read, read, read, and learn. Find someone who can help you with it. I wish I had had some medical assistance as I walked through this.. someone who understands this stuff... and the OTCs available to assist with it.. Anyhow, good luck with your health. I wouldn't wish the anxiety on anyone. I do hope you find some relief soon... j -------------------------------------------------------------------- > Is anyone taking either of these for anxiety?
