Okay, finally I got in with a Holistic Doc. His response to me was

much better than any other Doc I have been to. He looked at my

recent labs. He said pretty much the same as you guys about the am

blood cortisol. He said it was not really a good measurement of

cortisol, but that it did look within the range and was okay. Some

on this group thought it to be probably low. (It was 12.34 range

5.3-24.2) I asked him several times about my adrenals and if I

should get the 4x saliva test. He said no, that he would prescribe

Armour and if I didn't feel well on a pretty good dose then we would

suspect poor adrenal function.

He prescribed 30mg in the am and another 30mg 4-5 hrs later for 1

week.

Then up it to 60 mg twice a day for the second week.

Then up it to 90 mg twice a day for the third week, etc. until 4

weeks

when I get bloodwork.

He also said he suspected I am estrogen dominant. He said he will

probably put me on progesterone a little later on.

He ordered labs on me for tomorrow. They are: Basic Chemistry

(Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Potassium, Sodium, Creatine, BUN, &

Glucose), DHEA-S, Free & Total Testosterone, HGB A1c and Fasting

Insulin. I didn't look at the lab slip until I got home.

Here are my questions:

1. Should I have my adrenals checked before starting Armour? If I

have poor adrenal function and start Armour won't it just make me

feel worse?

2. Isn't that too much Armour too fast? What would you suggest?

3. Wouldn't he order a progesterone too, if he suspects low

progesterone? How is this all connected?

Any help would be apprectiated. He did seem way more on the ball

than any others, but it seems like he did things a little different

than I expected.

I did post this on another site, looking for advice. Sorry if this

is a repeat for anyone.

Thanks!!

Barb
