Welcome to our family! We have several teachers here who have students with MDS.

I am sure they also will pipe in and share their experiences. If the family does

not know about our organization, will you let them know about us so we can

provide them with support as well?

We are currently working on funding for a school brochure for MDS. But, until

we have that funding, feel free to ask any questions you have here and we will

be happy to answer them! Also, we have a special offer for teachers to receive

our quarterly newsletter, MOSAIC WORLD for only $10.00 a year. If you are

interested in receiving this newsletter or learning more about it, just send me

an email at imdsapresident@... and I will be happy to send you some

information.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Where do you teach? Elementary, middle, or high school? or preschool? Is your

program self-contained or inclusion?

I am a special education teacher in Northern KY. We have a full inclusion

program, where the students are in regular education classes with supports. My

role is to go into the regular education classroom and work with the teacher to

ensure that the appropriate modifications are made for the students with IEPs.

You will find that your student with MDS will have strengths and weaknesses just

like any other student. S/he may need more modifications and/or adaptations in

order to succeed, but can experience a great deal of success with your help. Be

sure to have good communication with his/her parents from the beginning. I

think that is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for any student's success.

WELCOME! I am also a special education teacher with a student with MDS. My

student is fully included in regular classes with support and is doing well.

She has a tremendous work ethic, which gets her a long way. She struggles with

math, but we are getting through it with adaptations and modifications.

I'm no expert on MDS, but I may be able to answer some questions and/or give you

some tips. Feel free to ask anything!

Btw, what is your name? Where are you located? What grade level do you teach?

(I'm assuming it's high school, since you're in a correctional facility, but you

know where assuming gets you!).

Hi Everyone

We have a new teacher! Here is what she had to say...

I am currently a special education teacher working with students in a

correctional setting. One of my newest students has a diagnosis of mds

and I am interested in learning more about it. Thanks.

Welcome to our family! I am so glad you have joined us! Please feel

free to ask any questions you have about MDS. We will all be very happy

to share our experiences with you and answer any questions you may have.
