Guest guest
Did you ever get a thyroid dump where you felt quite hyper since starting the HC? If not you most likely are not high enough on it for it to work, that is why thyroid labs will tell alot. If they are still showing WAY high, I doubt you need to cut back but rather increase. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I am still having problems figuring out what is going on. My mom started HC and later Armour. Of course it helped at first and later she felt worse so I had her take more HC and back off the Armour. She says she feels like crying all of the time and actually feels worse on Armour. I instructed her to back off Armour and up HC. Instead she went to her doctor and he told her that her thyroid blood levels were normal and that taking Armour would make her have a heart attack. She is unable to remember that she was MUCH worse before she started the treatment. Now she is off all meds. Why did she feel so much worse on the meds? I believe she is blaming it on the Armour, when the real problem is that she did not wean off her antidepressant and just stopped taking it. But she got off the antidepressant months ago and she insists it was the Armour that made her feel bad. Anyway, if she feels worse on Amour and HC, even tho her temps are stable, what could the problem be? Thanks, -- Re: Re: optimal dose of HC/Val Did you ever get a thyroid dump where you felt quite hyper since starting the HC? Guest guest
>>Anyway, if she feels worse on Amour and HC, even tho her temps are stable, what could the problem be?<< Sounds like too low a dose of Armour. Somewhere between 2 and 3.5 grains, there is enough Armour to shut down your own thyroids output. Many times this leaves a person even more hypo than they were before Armour. The trick is to get past this by increasing Armour. Being someone that has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and also someone that has taken up to 8 grains Armour and 95MCG T3 with it, I can tell you Armour does NOT cause heart attacks. LOW thyroid and especially low T3 will. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I think she was only on half a grain in the morning. Her cortisol was 10, 5 5. She decided to stop all cortisol and Armour cause her doc said her blood levels were normal and she could give herself a heart attack. What crap. And how foolish to stop cortisol completely, all at once. Not to mention that my own mother told her doc that I provided her with these meds. Boy, I will not be trying to help again! -- Re: Re: optimal dose of HC/Val >>Anyway, if she feels worse on Amour and HC, even tho her temps are stable, what could the problem be?<< Sounds like too low a dose of Armour. Guest guest
I believe that, . I know that my 21 year old cat had high thyroid for years and lived that long, did not die of heart problems but developed kidney problems when they pulled out her thyroid and refused to supplement, saying cats don't need it. She immediately went into kidney failure. And of course they are relying on blood work only for cats...................... ............ My mom was only on half a grain. My brother too and they both developed agitation, crying, getting upset easily. I told them to back off Armour and increase HC. Mom probably skipped doses of HC. Brother backed off Armour and is only doing HC for now and feels much better. I did not get why only half a grain caused a problem. I only ever took one grain and used to take 90 mgs T3 a day. It seems to take very little Armour to effect our symptoms either getting agitated and shaky with palps. -- Re: Re: optimal dose of HC/Val >>Anyway, if she feels worse on Amour and HC, even tho her temps are stable, what could the problem be?<< Sounds like too low a dose of Armour. This is interesting to me Val. I posted earlier about how much of am improvement I had when i started h.c and Armour 18 months ago. That has begun to feel like a distant memory somewhat as more recently I feel right back where I started. I had been having horrible stress/severe insomnia and put it down to that - you know the strain of all of that masking the real improvement I have made. And it may be the case that there is hidden improvement here AND that also because I being working my way from 2 - 3 1/4 grains that I am also in the bracket to which you refer. Mo ps question - if this amount is enough Armour to shut off thyroid output, does that not mean that this is sufficient? Do you have Hashi's? If so you do nto want your oen thyroid being stimulated with TSH anyway as this also stimulates antibodies. If you have unknown causes for hypo, then it is also often wise to use full replacement as you could STILL have HAshi's with just a lack of anitbodies as this also happens. I am not sure how my hypoT came about though it is said to be caused by chemo for HCV which I had for eight weeks. Also, I think?, HCV itself can be a contributory factor, though I am not sure abut that. Certainly, long-term chronic infection like I have had for 30 years would impact on the adrenals and thence the thyroid? If I understand it aright anyway. I did ask for antibodies when I eventually persuaded the GP to do the thyroid panel. They did ONE and said it was OK but I have never understood what the other one might be and if I was not tested for this, is this significant? I hope I am making sense, operating on very little sleep from last night. My problem is Val that I don't know how to recognise when I get to my optimum dose of Armour as there may be remaining symptoms which are liver-related and not hypoT as such. Can I rely on temperature as a firm indication of reaching optimum levels. I am concerned that I will just keep raising and raising and still have symptoms. Guest guest
So the HC 10 breakfast, 5 or 10 at lunch, 5 at dinner, is not enough for them? -- Re: Re: optimal dose of HC/Val >>My mom was only on half a grain.
