Guest guest
<< I need to know ASAP who the BEST Doctor in Boston, Mass. is to do an ERCP - I need someone that that is ALL they do ALL DAY long! >> Dr. Marshall Kaplan at the New England Medical Center is the authority on this disease. His office would refer you to the best ERCP specialist.

Guest guest
I had Curtis at Newton-Wellesley Hospital do mine -- he is the head of GI there. I had zero complications and the nurses are all great. I was in and out in no time. If you want it done in Bostn, I would go to New England Medical Center. Their GI dep't is top notch also. E-mail me privately and I can provide you with phone numbers, etc. Colleen --- BOEMAN@... wrote: > I need to know ASAP who the BEST Doctor in Boston, > Mass. is to do an > ERCP - I need someone that that is ALL they do ALL > DAY long! > > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Based on what Walderich reported during the ERCP survey (message # 17949, Nov 2, 2000 11:21 pm - see below) Dr Lee at NEMC would be who I would chose. Also see #'s 16623, 7064 & 6382 - My hepatologist is Young-Mee Lee, M.D. New England Medical Center Boston - Tim R 1. Have you had a ERCP ? yes >> 2. If so, how many ? Way, way too many to count...I know that I'm the ERCP " queen " ...year before transplant...almost one every six weeks, sometimes even more frequently. >> 3. Have you gotten sick afterwards ? no >> 4. How many times ? 0 >> 5. Were you hospitalized or given Antibiotics before or >> after ERCP ? Sometimes. Sometimes I had a severe cholangitis attack and had to have the ERCP while in the hospital to clear the blockage. Never after the ERCP because I begged so much to go home that Dr. Lee let me with the understanding that I would call if there was a problem. I just liked sleeping it off in my own bed. >> 6. If so how many times ? 0 >> 7. If you have gotten sick, do you remember time of day >> your ERCP was ? I never got sick, and I had ERCP's at all times during the day...I was in and out of the endoscopy unit more longer than some of the nurses (1997 through 2000). in NH --- BOEMAN@... wrote: > I need to know ASAP who the BEST Doctor in Boston, Mass. is to > do an ERCP - I need someone that that is ALL they do ALL DAY > long! __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Ed goes to NE MEdical also and Dr. Young Mee Lee is a hepatologist, but, doesn't do the ERCP's. Ed had his ERCP's done by Dr. Libby. Good luck. I don't know his direct line but you can reach NE Medical at (Dr. Kaplan's office). Gracie
Guest guest
Yes 's doctor was Dr. Lee and she was excellent, she literally kept alive when her duct was a tread until she could get her transplant. When I asked why she didn't go to Florida where she could get a liver faster she said she'd never leave Dr. Lee. Boy that sure would be the one I'd go after. My two cents. Guest guest
Colleen, The GI Doc I had for so many ERCP's is not a guy and not a fellow. She trains the fellows. My doc is Dr. Young-Mee Lee, and she is also a GI doc affiliated with the transplant team. She has written, in 1997, with Dr. Kaplan, a really good journal article that explains the basics of psc. Many of the fellows Dr. Lee trained have assisted her with my ERCP's. She was able to get the ERCP done adeptly, even when my main bile duct was about the thickness of a piece of sewing thread....very tricky, and she just kept working at it so that it wouldn't block over. I credit her for keeping me alive until transplant. Just a note. I have been so busy I haven't been able to read or post much lately....lots of work at work....however, I wanted to tell you that today is my 11 month anniversary post transplant. My liver enzymes continue to be normal. Just one more month, and I've lived a year I thought I wouldn't. It's amazing how sick I was last year at this time, and now how much better I am. (disease free in NH)....dx psc 1985; living donor transplant, New England Med Center, 6/9/00; donor: Handi Skorich I do think there is a Dr. Lee who is a fellow, but I'm not sure he's had the years of experience that Dr. Lee has had with ERCP's. Guest guest
In response to my previous question: > I need to know ASAP who the BEST Doctor in Boston, Mass. is to do an > ERCP - I need someone that that is ALL they do ALL DAY long! I'll be going to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass., on Monday, June 4th to be seen by Dr. Carr-Locke & Dr. Farrell in the morning and am scheduled for an ERCP early afternoon. Thank you for the postings and private email recommendations.....after quite abit of research it appears I'll be in great hands! I'll be going there from upstate New York and having this ERCP done there as the ERCP done here couldn't access the duct and was done by a rock-solid G.I. from Syracuse, NY. I have quite the medical history, but by the sounds of things I will be in good hands in Boston. Thank you all for your recommendations.
