Subject: Question on TCMTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Thursday, January 8, 2009, 7:55 PM

For any of those of you using tcm for your children (dr. peng or others), do your doctors feel like accupuncture is necessary? My tcm states I must use both the herbs and accupuncture is necessary for healing and restoring the (qui ro something like that). How effective will it be to get herbs from Dr. Peng without accupuncture or can you heal without that stimulation?Did that makes sense? I have 5 kids trying to tell me a million things as I type! Thanks.

While I am intrigued on acupuncture and it was a

deciding factor in going with a local TCM Dr. rather

than Dr Peng, my son is not ready for it yet. I

hope we can get him into a receptive/calm place to

tolerate the treatments downline, but my Dr. said

acupuncture will enhance the tea treatments, though

they are " very effective and strong " on their own.

We have been very pleased with just the tea thus far.

Well I would say that if you can do both that is the best, they work very synergistically. However our kids are very very sensitive and while acupuncture really isn't that painful, it can seem like pure torture for them. Some say with treatment this lessens (and it should). However you can do either one independently and see results. I feel that without herbs you aren't going to get that far, at least not for a long long time. You will see some reduction in behaviors but I think the herbs are necessary for gut healing and the building these kids need. At times I do acupuncture on my kids, at other times herbs and rarely both. I usually do both when I am really concerned about a severe respritory infection or vomiting, etc

My 3 yo ds is doing TCM. The doctor has said that acupuncture would do

wonders for my ds, BUT my ds is too young for it. My NT dd is 17 yo

and he only recommended herbs for her. She is seeing him for GI,

detox, and hormonal issues.
