Guest guest
Thanks to all of you for responding. I am happy that others in the group are staying active. I spent the morning at the veterinarian's office. Dr. Meg Pressley. She works on large animals and makes " house calls " at the farms. Yesterday her parking lot was covered in horse poop. In the waiting room were four goats, a tiny puppy, five cats, an agitated pit bull, plus my bewildered dog. The goats were scared of the pit bull and kept peeing and pooping. The floor slanted toward us, and we had to keep dodging out of the way. It was insane! In the afternoon I did yard work and tried to keep my dog from chewing on his stitches. I yelled " STOP IT!!!!!! " and the crew of carpenters hammering on the building next-door all froze. I realized they heard me and added, " YOU BAD DOG! " and they all went back to hammering. ) Here is a good URL for keeping an eye on Hurricane Dennis. It should be upgraded from a category 2 to a category 3 storm by tomorrow. It has a ragged eye, and so the computer models differ - one showing it coming ashore in South Carolina, and another showing it hovering off the coast of North Carolina, then following the coastline northward. There could be widespread flooding from this one. For those unfamiliar with the Tarheel State (North Carolina), a map will show the potential for trouble in Pamlico Sound and Albemarle Sound ... lage bodies of shallow water surrounded by low-lying shoreline. http://www.disastercenter.com/hurricd9.htm Susie
Guest guest
Susie, Are you in the watch area for the hurricane? Better tie that dog down so he doesn't blow away! Keep us posted on how things are down in sunny NC! Jim
Guest guest
Hey Susie, sounds like maybe the vet was quiet a adventure. I live in Texas and the electric company had one of their lines blow up last Friday and it just so happen to be the line that went to my house. This caused my house to loose its ground and I had the 4th of July going on inside my house which blew up anything electronic plugged into the wall including my computer, which is what I earn extra money on. Needless to say it also caused a fire outside which the fire dept had to come and put out. I had no water because we have a well and no electricity and the fire was about 2 feet from the butane tank and right under a transformer. It took the fire dept 20mins to get here and I was one stressed lady. My computer still works but every so often I get alot of errors and it shuts me down. All this to say that we living on the coast of Texas and taking Hurricanes very seriously have missed having something news wise to heard what is going on. We are about 90 miles from Houston along the coast and because of our situation we found out about the one that hit Corpus Christy about 24 hr before it hit. Amazingly enough my sugar readings have been 112 and even been dipping in the mid to low 80's. Just when you think you have this disease figured out you find out you don't. I hope you guys are ok and keep us posted.
