Yes, I think I did ask about school lunches. I have no idea what everyone packs for their kids' lunch. My girls are not really eating much at school, and they chow down their sandwiches in the car on the way home. ly, this sounds like a great reason to just pack the lunch on my way to pick them up instead of before the sun comes up, but I do have to make the teachers think I actually feed these girls. So far, I am sticking to ham and cheese, pbj, and grilled cheese sandwiches. I've done Macaroni a couple of times ,but nobody touched it at school. I wanted to know if people were packing more interesting things for their kids' lunches. Jacquie H, of course... has SCHOOL LUNCHES. I hate her LOL Grace

So what do *I* pack? -a pbj daily + two of the following: -an apple, which he will eat if someone cuts it up for him -a baggie full of dry cereal (cinnamon toast crunch or golden grahams) -a baggie full of crackers (must be ritz or breton, although almost all Breton have milk in them) -a fruit roll-up (generic brand) -fruit bits (like fruit gushers, but generic) -creamed corn -occaisonally, the generic knock-off of dunkaroos That's it. That's his whole repertoire! Jacquie
Guest guest
Putter's lunch: Last year, when GFCF: Three rice cakes, potato chips, juice, one cut up apple This year, not GFCF: Three rice cakes, potato chips, no juice, just whatever the school has on hand, even water, cheerios, one cut up apple. This lunch does not vary and neither does Putter. Salli

Guest guest
Mitchel is not in all day school yet. So he has lunch at Shirley's (who's watched him since he was a baby) and she knows his quirks just like I do! Kerri Re: Re: Grace? > " Jacquie H, of course... has SCHOOL LUNCHES. Guest guest
> WOW!!! will ONLY accept pbj sandwiches, and ONLY on white bread!!! WOW. Jacquie, the teachers don't think badly of you for not varying his lunch? THAT is the main reason they started getting more than just grilled cheese sandwiches - - because I thought the teachers would think horribly of me for always making one kind of sammich! I feel like I should be sending minestrone to school, or goulash or something. I want to go in and tear open every kid's lunch and see what their mothers gave them! LOL > -an apple, which he will eat if someone cuts it up for him My children do not eat fruit. Syd will sometimes take an apple, but normally - - all fruit must be pureed or it's a no go. > -a baggie full of dry cereal (cinnamon toast crunch or golden grahams) OOOH OOOH!!! Those two are the ones we eat here! They look alike, and CTC is much cheaper, so I tried to fool madison, but it didn't work. It took me a week, but she now eat CTC. Damn those things are much messier than GG's! > That's it. That's his whole repertoire! Well, now I don't feel like I'm doing something illegal. I just hope I will figure out more things once i have a kitchen. UP until then, I guess sammiches will have to do. Thanks Jacquie! Grace: If these are all kids with autism, you will find that nothing you put in their lunches will surprise the school. Putter's lunches are always the same because THAT IS WHAT HE EATS. When Mr. Putt is satisfied, he is satisfied. Salli

Grace, Grace! Step back a moment! Autistic kids generally have self-limited diets. Your girls are autistic. They go to a school with autistic kids...the teachers have training with autistic kids...could it be possible they've seen extrememly limited diets before? BTW, yesterday I was positive that it was KFC day at school, so I didn't pack a sandwich. got in the van after school, I said, what did you eat for lunch? he said, no sandwich. I called the teacher when we got home...it WASN'T KFC day! Luckily, they have a snack bag for those unfortunate children whose parents neglect them like that....of course, they gave him a Kraft HandiSnak with CHEESE......(his cheecks are fiery red today) But, the teacher and I had a good laugh over what an idiot I am, and that was that. Don't worry about it! Jacquie

But all the same, I don't want them to think that I don't pay nutritional attention to my girls. For the record, I DO NOT. LOL But I just don't want THEM to know that. Even if they never eat lunch, I'd like to make it look like they are normally fed a well-balanced diet by a great mother who spends HOURS cooking for them in the wee hours of the morning. Of course, the *only* reason these girls would not eat lunch is because they are at school? Yes, THAT is the impression I want to give off! > > BTW, yesterday I was positive that it was KFC day at school, so I didn't pack a sandwich. got in the van after school, I said, what did you eat for lunch? he said, no sandwich. I just BURSTED out laughing!!!! > > Luckily, they have a snack bag for those unfortunate children whose parents neglect them like that....of course, they gave him a Kraft HandiSnak with CHEESE......(his cheecks are fiery red today) Hey - - you can't quite argue with WHAT they fed him if you didn't give him a lunch. Darn, huh? ) > > But, the teacher and I had a good laugh over what an idiot I am, and that was that. Not idiot. Flustered. Definitely not an idiot.
