Guest guest
I was at the point with Art's onc where I felt that he wasn't being very aggressive - I didn't have a whole lot of faith that he would keep fighting as long as Art would. And I don't know that that is going to change. There are people here that are more knowledgable than I am, and I'm hoping that I can take some information with me that might pressure him a little... Art had his whipple 17 months ago. After that he had a course of 5FU, via a pump, along with radiation to the bile duct area. The Mayo Clinic protocol called for a second round of chemo (5FU combined with another drug), but that was never given. Now, the radiologist says that he has a tumor surrounding these arteries. Questions: because of the arteries, what is the medical probability of surgery being an option? because the past radiation was not given at this site, what is the probability of that being an option? Since one course of 5FU has been used, will that even be considered? Are there other chemo drugs that are used (and effective) with cholangeocarcinoma? I know they're hard questions, and that you all have not seen the scans, etc. I'm just wondering what questions I should be asking, and if the possibility of pointing the onc in the right direction even exists. Thanks, Ellen __________________________________________________
