About your poll : no I have never smoked - well, one cigarette when I was eight years old. Pot and such things I have tried twice, in my student days ( like Clinton I didn't inhale !!!!), once as a " herb " tea and once as " herb cookies " . Like Maureen though, I was also a prenatal smoker as my mother (I already told the group she died of lung cancer at age 59) smoked 20 (or so) cigarettes per day until 6 months before her cancer diagnosis. I've certainly been a strong passive smoker and I HATE the smell, taste etc etc with a passion. Also, like Maureen I have developed adult onset " allergic " asthma although only necessitating inhaler therapy. A smoky atmosphere will trigger an attack really quickly. In Holland this reduces socialising a great deal - the Dutch are absolutely appalling where smoking is concerned - frequently smoking disgusting " roll your own " cigarettes.
