Fri, Oct 29, 2:30pm ET REGISTER FOR THE CALL You are invited to a special call with Dr. Don Berwick, MD, MPP, the head of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), on Friday, October 29 at 2:30pm EDT. Dr. Berwick will be leading the implementation of all the provisions of the Affordable Care Act that address Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). On this call, he will be speaking with Doctors for America members and physicians from our partner organizations about what physicians and patients can expect under the new health law. I’ll join the call with Dr. Berwick. Dr. Berwick has been instrumental in improving health care delivery systems throughout his career. Prior to leading CMS, he served as President of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), where he led the successful 100,000 Lives Campaign that dramatically reduced preventable mortality in American health care. Under his leadership, IHI recruited and partnered with more than 3,000 hospitals across the country to adopt and implement proven best practices to reducing unnecessary death. In 18 short months, an estimated 122,300 lives were saved. He has also launched the Protecting 5 Million Lives From Harm campaign to reduce preventable harm from surgical complications, MRSA infections, pressure ulcers and other avoidable risks. Dr. Berwick needs to hear from doctors like you about how to improve Medicare and Medicaid at this critical time of reform.
