Hi,

I appreciate their savant abilities, but it's the fact that the guys

are putting up with all the questions and doing their best and

flapping and rocking that I am really impressed with. You just don't

get to see good footage of stimming like that often. I just get a

warm feeling for them when I watch it.

I hope they had a good living situation with people who loved them.

Hi,

I haven't figured out exactly where the footage was done and by whom.

I went searching for " and " calendar savants and found

that those are the names of the names of a pair of identical twins who

were " popular " or something in the 1960's. the Film and their

clothing, etc, sure looks like 1960's to me. I think I hear a New

York accent from the quieter brother...but I'm no expert on that.

I can't see how the two on the film could be identical twins, not at all.

I wonder if someone put the wrong names on this video or something.

From a website:

" These identical twins were a set of triplets that were born three

months premature, but the girl had died a couple of hours after birth. "

OK, now I have never heard of a pair of identical twins plus a

fraternal triplet. That's weird.

" When they about 3 years old they both were displayed head banging,

hand biting, and destructiveness. They were not really close until

they were 9 years old, where they were sent to Letchworth Village in

New York State, for about six years. In a report provided by Dr.

Arthur Holstein of Letchworth Village gives some details about the

boys calculating and mathematical abilities.

For example, the product of 3 X 6 might be given as 8. Although they

cannot add up to 30, when given your birth date, they can accurately

tell you it is 30 weeks until your next birthday or 13 weeks since you

last had a birthday. can tell you the year a particular famous

man in history-for example Washington- was born and how old he

would be if he were alive today. " (Treffert p. 38) "

I have to look in my textbook to see if there is some kind of

reference to them...

Camille, It sounds to me like the two men, whether twins

or not, were savants in the memory sense. If they can't calculate

the dates as I do, it takes a lot of memory work to memorize the

fourteen calendars in the 28 year cycle and also adjust for the

shift than occurs each century since the " 00 " years are only leap

years when divisible by 400.
