Guest guest
Hi - I hope it is OK to email you directly. We see Dr.. DeMio in Cleveland. He is very very well informed, but he seems inconsistent in his treatment of our son. We read about other protocols that are available and often wonder why he never mentioned any of them to us.I have heard from many people that, quite frankly, Dr.. Linsk is a jerk. So I am not suprised to hear that you had the experience you did. Would you strongly recommend Dr. Leventer? Is he up to speed on anti fungal/anti viral as well as other therapies? Anything you can share would be appreciated.By the way, any relations to Koenigsknecht? Just curious.MarisaTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Wednesday, December 31, 2008 8:45:52 PMSubject: RE: DAN Dr? Can I ask who you see currently? We see Dr. Leventer in Grass Lake and are pretty happy with his care. We did see Dr. Linsk but he was not a good fit for our family. Very unimpressed with his office/bedside manner, tho some really like him. We would be willing to travel 8 hrs or so if necessary. Guest guest
Hi Marisa: I recently joined this group and have been "shadowing" for a while. When I saw your distance requirement of 8 hours "or so," I thought I would throw my hat into the ring. (I think we're about 7.5 hrs away from you!) I am the biomedical consultant at Cady Wellness Institute in Newburgh, Indiana. website: www.cadywellness.com Dr. Cady and I have both been through the Defeat Autism Now Clinician's training. Prior to our training, we worked together from 2003-2005, along with our Naturopath colleague, Dr. Whitney Gabhardt. Dr. Cady is a classically trained psychiatrist who did his residency at the Mayo Clinic. Thankfully though, he is not your "classic" psychiatrist - MUCH more into functional medicine and holistic treatment of the person. When I joined the practice in 2003, Dr. Cady was already ordering food allergy testing from ImmunoLabs, and Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analyses from Genova (then Great Smokies), for our kiddos with ADHD. My own daughter was dx'd with ADHD, combined type and OCD at six, later with Asperger's and PANDAS, so the progression to biomedical treatment for "autism" was a natural and necessary one for me. I am thrilled to report she is currently off all meds, mainstreamed in ninth grade, a fabulous drummer and artist, and all-around beautiful child (still somewhat inattentive, but she comes by that honestly!) I attended my first Defeat Autism Now! Conference in October 2005 and went through the clinician's training in April 2007. Dr. Cady did the training in July 2008. We are currently accepting new patients in our practice, with a very short wait-time. If you would like to know more about our practice, please check the website, or post any questions you may have. I monitor my email daily. You may also want to check my blog: www.4allofyou.blogspot.com Blessings to you. Marcella Piper-Terry, M.S. Guest guest
Thanks, Sally! It is wonderful to be able to access this group and learn from all of the parents who are helping their children. I am in Southwestern Indiana, and Dr. Cady and myself are the only ones here, so it can often feel like we're on an island. When I went to the DAN! conference in andria in 07, there was only one table from the midwest, and I was the only practitioner from Indiana. GETS REALLY LONELY, especially being in the belly of the pharmaceutical beast! I am so thankful to everyone who posts their experiences, as I learn something new everyday that will help me with my kids here. Thanks to all of you! I am a mother of 4 year old twin boys on the spectrum trying all I can to help them.
