Guest guest
Thanks for the reminder but I already sent my letter in support.Keep up the good work; you inspire all of us. Eckhardt [Attachment(s) from Sharon McCoy included below] Another reminder for those still awake (or try Tuesday and see if link still works). I know many of us are exhausted but it just takes a few minutes and even if you don't currently have a direct care practice, consider lending your support. Thanks. The Direct Primary Care Coalition On Sun, Oct 3, 2010 at 11:53 PM, Dr. Garrison Bliss and the Direct Primary Care Coalition wrote: Hello to all friends of monthly fee practice. As you may know, the rules around the Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act are now being built. These rules will determine how the act affects the Direct Primary Care in America. It is essential to the survival of quality direct care that the act support rule changes that will allow Direct Practices to work with insurers providing wraparound insurance policies (covering everything BUT the primary care). This means that our patients won’t have to buy their care twice, once from the insurance company and then again from the care provider. Having this option ensconced in national law quietly acknowledges both the legitimacy of direct practices and our longstanding claim that the monthly fee is a true medical expense. This will also supersede state law, allowing direct practices traction even in states currently hostile to this movement. Enclosed you will find a letter that I am asking you to edit (the second paragraph describing your practice) and submit to Secretary Sebelius of HHS. When you describe your practice, do not mention any insurance income (if you have any) since this would confuse the regulators regarding the definition of the care we provide. There is a section that suggests that they model the law after Washington State law. This is important, since it will avoid tampering from our foes – so please leave this section in. If you know anyone with a direct practice, please forward this on to them as well. Since the deadline is MONDAY (10/4/2010), there is no time to lose. The fastest way to submit this is via a website. This may be the only way to make the Monday deadline: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#documentDetail?R=0900006480b27305 At the top of the page there is a link to: Submit Comment. Please click on this and paste your version of the letter into the box (2000 characters maximum, so you will have to remove the date and address information for Secretary Sibelius to paste it in. There will only be about 70 characters left to describe your practice, so keep it brief). Thank you for your help with this critical effort. It will secure the survival of monthly fee practices in this country. Warmest regard, Garrison Bliss, M.D.
