Guest guest
I hope this is the appropriate place to post this. I'm currently a hospitalist (internist) and fairly unhappy for many reasons. I'm thinking of making the jump to an IMP. I've found some decent office space for $12/sq ft (~800 sq ft). I'm scheduled to talk to a lawyer and CPA specializing in healthcare as well. Although, I'm afraid they will think I'm crazy for wanting to try this. How difficult is it to reach an agreement with insurance companies and do they question the IMP model. Anthem is the big provider here. I'm trying to learn my options as far as fee schedules, cash visits, and urgent care visits (cash?). I went to business school prior to med school, was a software consultant, and did a two year med informatics fellowship. I feel like I can do this but would like a little guidance. Are there any books, websites (other than this one), or consultants that can help me? The devil is in the details. A consultant might be worth the expense. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
