Hilarious!! I triple-dog-dare you to submit that somewhere to someone for publication, because it's just too funny to be limited to this list-serve.

Deanna

It was epic.

However, our observational data strongly suggest that it too, is an unsustainable model.

Although a mechanical hamster running on an engineered plastic wheel, does not encounter the physical and psychological frailties that frequently plague the human subjects on hamster wheels, the development of unstable oscillations likely secondary to perturbable resonance frequencies caused the mechanical hamster and wheel to fall off the projector table after 10 minutes of continuous operation.

It is clear that the many flaws in the conception, production and function of this model will result in the need for continuos replacement of the hamsters as well as the hamster wheels. While these results will likely lead to increased employment levels in the industries directly related to the production of hamsters, batteries and wheels as well as the maintenance of the physical st ructure and management of the hamsters, who may refuse to return to the wheel, no observable improvement of outcomes was noted.

Our group concluded that such models consisting of mechanical hamsters on engineered wheels are unlikely to prove useful at any level of delivery of care.

Where can we all get "Battery Operated Hamsters on Wheels"???? That just sounds way too cool to even pass on.... With a nice big IMP Logo on it too.... :)

Elaine,

The following sums up how well IMP camp worked out:

You thoughtfully asked Seto to carry something to IMP Camp for the gift exchange. packed it but forgot to bring it to Maggiano's, the offsite restaurant where the banquet was held. He asks me this afternoon if he should save it for next year. Meanwhile, Joh n Brady, and Eads are getting ready to do a surprise roast of Gordon for his upcoming half century mark. I hadn't gotten it together to get him a present.

brings over your gift and what is it......a battery powered hamster on a wheel. Gordon got exactly what he wanted and needed for his birthday.

Everything was perfect (except that not everyone could be here.) What a great group.

Sharon

P.S. The newly formed Education Committee will announce the location and month of IMP Camp 2011 by November. Lots of opportunities to be part of the fun of making it happen will be announced in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Anyone who attended, especially first time campers, please post about your experiences.

I wish I could have been there. It sounds like camp was really fun.  I found the hamster at City Walk by Universal Studios at a tourist gift shop. When I saw it running in the window, I thought of us IMPs and how lucky we are to be off the hamster wheel.

, I am flattered that you want one so badly. It was $10 plus tax. Search online or kids toy store. If you can't find it, we can make a trip there to pick you up one. Contact me off line

First camp for me. Was terrific being able to meet the people behind the

listserv posts. I picked up some good tips and had some good networking. Many

thanks to all those who worked on it.

Very Cool.... Hey for $10 bucks I might ever splurg for two of them! One for the office and one for the kids... :)

I will go on line and see what I kind find... I want to find a way to like put it in a standard pet cage or tank with a legable note, "Modern 21st Century Primary Care Doctor Who Takes Insurance" Post it on U-Tube and ask all other similar minded folks to do like wise. Then I going to leave it running in our waiting room just to help get the message across....

Hey has anybody every seem those inflatable clear Vinyl Balls that are like huge human Hamster excercise balls??? Perhaps we could create a good short video with a few folks in labcoats trapped in a few of those as well....

Thanks for the offer Elaine, I'll try myself first and then get back to you if I really have to....
