I know diabetes can cause restless leg,etc. I'm sure someone on the list can tell you specifically about charly horses,lack of one of the vitamin or minerals will cause leg cramping I think it is potassium and vitamin K. Alot of the people on this list eat low carb and high protein we have found it gives us better control. What have your glucose levels been running? I have been getting these in the middle of the night. Not sure if I am getting them from diabetes or the way I sit at work. At work I feel my legs tense while I sit. Excited about joining this list. The doc said I needed to start exercising so I hit the road for 1 mile 3 times a day. I started waking up in the middle of the night with the cramps from Hades over both my shin bones. I cut it back to 1/2 mile 3 times a day and have had no cramps since. Doc said it was a wonder I was walking. I felt fine just peed a lot. Doc put me on meds but then I would go down to 90 or 80 and would feel dizzy. I stopped taking them thinking diet would work. It did for a while. But got tired of turkey, not fond of fish and hate chicken. What's a diabetic to do? I used to check mine once a day but now I do it 3 times. Morning, Noon and PM. After today I may have to start doing it at bedtime also,depends on the doc.
